Randy (yes, that Randy) just joined the MP Kiva team and made a loan. [IMG]

I have so many loans out right now that I am taking a short break from lending. After the 15th when I get a lot paid back I'll make some more.

Wow, that will put the team over $5000 already!

The Kiva counter seems not to be as fast as it has been for FlyerTalk, but I am also funding this through my PayPal account which finally was regularized after months of effort.

Yeah, sometimes it takes them a while to update Team totals. I'll check again in a while.

BTW, we are growing fast at milepoint and Randy did his bit to begin. We need far more ambitious targets! We also need to figure out some good ways to encourage more participation.

I think out goal for the first post-beta month ought to be at least $20,000. We also should try to induce Randy to give us points for doing Kiva and the other charities too. I'll post that as a suggestion; maybe others will want to also.

Yes, great ideas. I've had similar thoughts, but figured he has his hands full right now.
I'm encouraged by the fact that the FT team is still growing rapidly (over 103K in loans) at the same time that the MP is starting and growing.

I made the post. I know they are busy, but we also need to pay attention to more than just the fun we are all having. If we are doing this we are not unable to help other people make a success of their own efforts. I don't mean to preach, I say as I continue, but there are few ways to give that are so rewarding as Kiva. Paying attention to the loans you make has such a huge reward especially since the money comes back and it can be recycled again.

I must be a little overenthusiastic today.

I understand your sentiments. What I love about MP, is that I am having so much fun here and meeting (online at this point only) so many people. FT is too serious and miles/points crazy for me. I've found that I can be of great assistance to others when I am relaxed, smiling and enjoying myself.
With Kiva, I now stop and feel my heart connection (human to human) with each person I lend to. The heart connection compliments the $$ in the loan.
No need to stop being enthusiastic. Enthusiasm is great.

Wow , kudos for making life easier for a lot of people, and for helping the team reach its goals!
(Stats don't display your loans yet)

I've added a 2nd goal for $20,000 total loan amount by June 12, 2011. Suggestions for future goals are welcomed, and will be added continuously :D

I also made another loan, goal stats so far according to Kiva:

Come on, keep making those loans! You know you can afford to - plus, we need to beat FT [IMG] !

Just joined the milepoint group and made 4 loans totalling 100 $. I currently have 18 active loans and will re-invest money paid back into new loans.

Thanks to everybody keeping this project running!

How about to give out another of those shiny new iPads for everybody joining the milepoint Kiva team and making at least one loan in the month of March...?

I would be willing to care for part of that price if we find another sponsor...

Odd, my new loans show in my portfolio but do not show credited to milepoint. They weren't to FT either so I'll wait a day and protest if they are not yet credited to our team.

Do you still have FT set as your default team?
    • Original Member

    jbcarioca Gold Member

No. That was the first thing I checked. If it is not fixed by tomorrow I will send an email. Anybody know how long posting usually takes?

Should post pretty much immediately... :D

We are now at $2900 and 115 loans!

Posting is often immediate. Sometimes I have noticed a short delay (hours maybe). If, as you said, your new loans show up in your account, but not in MP, then you should definitely contact Kiva.

The team now has $2900 and 115 loans, even without jbcarioca's loans. [IMG]

I just sent an email to Kiva. The loans have credited to my account, but not to milepointers, nor to Flyertalkers.

I will. They usually take two or three days to respond to my questions. One of the good things about them is that they are not overstaffed.
