    Thanks very much. Please feel free to ask any question you wish, including conversations if you want to discuss anything private. We like having you here.

    Your contributions will be matched, and remember if you can make more this month the additional contributions this month will be matched too.

    Please feel very well liked.

    I just made another loan credited to the Mile Point group. I couldn't resist when I read he wants to buy feed and vitamins for his pigs.

    There are more opportunities for you. Sadly one cannot make a direct Kiva search for pig farmers, but you found one anyway.

    Thanks very much! You cartainly are not being piggy about lending wisely.[IMG]

    Likes to all the new members;
    Likes to nime01 (even though I am jealous of his car); thanks to miles and smiles;
    Likes to Randy who brought us together.
    Likes to alpinesoccer who is matching my matching (he, sadly, has real work to do making the money to back up his pledges so he'll post later today).

    I have just paid my matching funds for today lending to Las Divinas of Asunción, Paraguay. $250 more towards the most liking, likable, and liked team on Kiva.[IMG]

    Now we need to recruit other people to make today even more likable.
    Remember that later today alpinesoccer will return to us after actually working and will match those loans all over again . if you have not done it already please go like him now!

    Your loans are being matched $2 for every $1 you invest. Look in your budgets and skip a tall latte to make our first full live month memorable and the best liked event on milepoint. [IMG]

    Well, being new to all of this, I just looked for ones where the milepoint team had contributed that weren't completely funded. I don't know how to pick out the "good" ones yet.

    While I don't expect to see $1 of my money returned, I'd like it to do the most good possible... and that means that it is repaid and reinvested.

    Kiva's repayment rate is 98.6%. So the chances are very high that all of your money will be repaid. IMHO, a "good" loan is any loan that you feel good about. There are a lot of ways to approach lending, and the results are as or more diverse than deciding on a "good" airline program. My own criteria have evolved and changed over time, so even for an individual what's "good" can and will change. My advise - just enjoy the process.

    I love it! Thanks to everyone for joining the team and making loans :D
    I tend to lend to people who are building their own business, not so much for 'personal expenses'. Thankfully, there are countless possibilities to diversify your loan portfolio. I don't care much if I get my money back, but it is really fun when the same money can help a lot of people over and over again.

    If you are careful you can do much better than the Kiva average also. all my loans are doing well, with zero defaults so far. many Kiva partners have portfolio with zero default and delinquency below .1%. If your taxes are paid in the US you can take a deduction, even though you can get your money back. remarkable aspect of the tax code.

    I have no idea how this works, but made my first donation. Picked a student loan. I needed a few of those myself back in the day...

    That's great!!!

    Everyone is different on how they choose their loans. Some choose by country, others by what the loan is intended for. Some probably feel safer loaning to a group. Me, I tend to have a soft spot for pigs. I focus is on the loan purpose.

    Welcome in DesertRose. You'll quickly learn all about it. Ask any questions you like and we'll try to help. In the meantime your contribution is being matched by alpinesoccer and also by me, so your investment just tripled! Thanks:D

    I choose by lender history (each Kiva loan is actually made by national organizations), borrower history (where it exists). Initially I screen by purpose (I lend for agriculture, manufacturing, retailing and services mostly) and by geography (I have some preferences, but they are unrelated to the lending process). Each person can design their own and the monitoring by Kiva makes it easy to keep track.[IMG]

    I have one friend who chooses by how quickly the loan will repay. I'm also a member of a kiva group where some of the members like to loan to people who sell their knitting/craft and need the money to buy those supplies. Oh to be paid to knit all day......

    There are so many ways to choose.

    I think the two businesses I won't loan to are phone shops and cosmetics shops.

    If I read this correctly there were three new members yesterday and $75 in new member loans. alpinesoccer and I will match those amounts as soon as nime01 fires up his wonderful classic VW and makes the official pronouncement.

    Please, everybody, get us new members and new money so alpinesoccer and I spend all our matching pledges. Where else can you give $1 and have a $3 effect? Triple $ on our Frequent Lender program, and you instantly become liked for life![IMG]

    OK, my money $75 for the new members has been paid in. Now everyone must get at least 100 new members this month making at least two loans each to max out nime01 too. Thatks very much. :D

    BTW, Nime01, is there a way to show soem clever bar graphs with progress to goals, matching funds, matching members, etc so everyone can see what is going on?

    By any standard, this is fun for me. I hope it is for others as well.:D
