Nice Choice! What did you choose?

I just registered for the new starwood promo. didn't really like the choices, but since I stay at starwood almost every week, I chose the triple points after 15 nights with unlimited earning during the period. I chose may-jul, so I guess I'll be maximizing my earnings elsewhere during aug-sep...

    what did you choose?

I chose May-July, double points from second stay. I should have 3-4 one-night stays during that period.

About the best I could get. It's not the most exciting promo, is it? :)

I am debating still as well. I am on the road every week - so the max of 9k points doesn't do much for me, but can't guarantee I can always find a Sheraton property (the 500/nt would definitely be the one I would go with if I could find a decent Sheraton). I think for some people there are some great options - but for me - I am going to really struggle to get much value here. Might do the 18 nts/9k points and then move the rest of my nights to Marriott or Hyatt for whatever promo's they run in the same period!

Its nice to have choices and no hotels excluded but would have loved to see stay 2 or stay 3 get 1 free even if it meant only weekends or only resorts.

I think I am going to do the bonus points after the second stay. I don't think I'll have enough stays in the period to get the triple points. After seeing this promo I feel like leaning toward moving some of my stays to Hyatt's airline miles promo instead.

I think we don't have to decide until June 30, and then we can still choose May-July as our dates... Hence, I'm all about waiting until late June to see how many nights I've achieved and then decide! :)

I'm waiting. Will most likely go with the triple points. But am unsure on the particulars on this one- Do you get 3x points for the first 15 nights? For the nights after the 15th night? For all nights in the period?

Yea - I just went through the FAQ's and saw the same thing. I am definitely waiting another couple of months and then setting it to be retroactive to whatever would be most beneficial. Of all the things this promo does - that might be the best part of it - the ability to wait and decide!!

Great so this promo is retroactive. I have a stay comming up on Friday and did not want to be under the gun to select a choice.

I'm waiting...but I'm also annoyed that I can't see the T&C without entering my account number, even though I'm logged in. I would actually prefer to read about the promo without logging in so that I don't risk accidentally registering by mistake and being unable to change the choice I could make inadvertently by clicking on something. When I click on "learn more" on spg.com, it insists that I enter my SPG number. Doesn't Starwood want people without account numbers to be able to read about this promo?

What are they offering? I'm not particularly in-touch with that program.

They are offering a bunch of crappy hotels you don't want to stay at ;)

I believe it's 3x for all nights of the period, effective after the 15th night.

As I indicated in another thread, I'm a new Starwood transplant from Hyatt. Just got an email confirming my Gold status and I picked the July 1 - September 30 promo for double points. Looking forward to seeing what this program is all about.

    Is SPG matching Gold now?

I didn't try to Plat match, I just switched over. Probably silly of me, I should have at least asked for the challenge. ;) All the match information I saw was about Platinum though, and I hardly think I'd be doing staying that often in a hotel.

I selected: Earn 3,000 Bonus Starpoints each 6 paid nights for the time from July to September

This seems to be the "best" for me because i will have surely some cheap one night stays at this time period..

    Greetings Mark

I was asking you about your new Gold status precisely because SPG no longer supposedly does matches; the former Plat matches have been replaced by just Plat challenges. So if you got a match to Gold, this would be news.

Same here. I have 5 one-night stays booked in September and nothing else, yet, so that seemed to be the best choice, which isn't saying much.

I went with the triple points as I know I have at least 30 nights in the next few months and it seems to work out point wise, but not by much compared to some of the other options depending on the rates I can get.

Sorry I misunderstood, I thought you were asking about me taking a Platinum Challenge. Yes, I did ask for a match to SPG Gold status and it was provided to me without a challenge.

You can't really register by mistake. There's a confirmation pop up before final registration.
