To be honest with you, I have problems deciding what to choose, so I decided to wait to register. Yes, none of the alternatives are something to do cartwheels over, just have to find the least lame one. As my travel for the summer is not set in stone, it makes it even harder. I think this offer is a little overwhelming for a lot of people out there
Definitely the case...unfortunately not in generosity, though. I do wonder where the "I'm taking my stays elsewhere" folks are running. No chain of comparable quality has a good promo for the summer. Seems like a period to just stay where you want to and where you want to build up elite credit and almost ignore the promos.
Can someone please elaborate on the retroactive-ness (word?) of this promo...? I have 6 (six) nights all during April and wonder if this would be any good for a head start in this promo..... thanks !!
This began on May 1st. Did any of your April stays extend into May? Best regards, William R. Sanders Social Media Specialist Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide spgchampion@starwoodhotels.com
RE: SPG Choice promo, I'll probably select Sheraton 500 points if I even bother registering. After comparing Hyatt and SPG I decided to sample Hyatt for awhile. The Hyatt credit card combined with the 90 day trial Platinum offer (through May 10) is now unusually generous, amounting to two free nights AND two suite upgrade certificates, first year fee waived and no initial spend requirement. Its one of the few enhanced offers from the major cc issuers when many of the other offers have been scaled back or large spend requirements introduced. The Hyatt summer promotion amounts to 2,000 - 2,500 airline points per stay, plus 3 Hyatt bonus points per $1 for using the card (and a small Platinum bonus), which is OK but not spectacular for those cheap one night weekend stays. For longer stays the value of the promo decreases but the relative value of the suite upgrade certificates increases if you can use them.
With respect to this promo, retroactive means that you can see what your SPG pattern is during May and June and then at the end of June pick your promo and pick your earnings period; you need not precommit. If you spend a lot of time for example in Sheratons during May, you can decide afterward to take the 500 points per Sheraton night deal and decide to count May/June/July as your earnings period.
I figured that... but Im still not sure what my travel plans look like for the rest of the year...... and wanted to put the April stays to good use so to say..... ah well, next promo it will be I guess.
Correct. After 15 nights per the FAQ they retro-apply triple credit on the first 15 then it's triple from there on out. Sent from my iPhone using milepoint
I've got 11 nights at various good SPG properties now booked for May and June already at more than 200USD average per night, and i expect more nights as well. So it looks like the the triple point deal is the best option for me
Just out of curiosity, and because I haven't had time to look yet, if I had a stay that started in April but carried over to May how (if at all) do those nights count for this promo?
If your checkout date was on May 1st or later, the stay that started in April will count as long as you register for this promotion period (May - July)
Actually, for a stay that began in April, you would have to check out on May 2nd for any of it to count towards this offer. You'd have to stay the night of May 1st, not check out on May 1st. Just signed up for the Sheraton 500 pts/night promo since I have a couple stays coming up. Too bad it won't be a club location or else I'd get 1000 pts on top as well.
Huh? The 1000 points are for renovated properties. If you use the lounge for breakfast, it's only 500 Plat amenity points per stay that you get, not 500 per person.
I wish I was a Plat! I'm just a lowly Gold so no lounge for me. He's right that I was referring to the club Sheraton 1000 bonus point promo. Didn't know it required a higher rate, though. Good to know!
It's a higher rate in that you must pay for a club floor room, not a standard room. Beyond that, I didn't investigate but some previous promos of this sort have seemed to require special rates or at least a BAR-like rate rather than a AAA rate for a club room, for example.
Hey! I'm looking into this promotion right now. I think I'll go for either the 500 points / Sheraton night or the 3000 after 6 nights. Do I understand correctly that if all my nights will be at Sheratons, it doesn't make any sense to go for the 3000 after 6 nights since the 500 per Sheraton night is more flexible, e.g. it earns you 2500 points for 5 nights instead of 0 points when choosing the 3000 after 6 nights? Edit: Also, if I share the room with somebody and he is paying half of it. Do I only get half a night then? Thanks in advance! petzpetz
