Seriously though, I am not sure if we finally break the Community Lounge thread but here it goes....

It just happened about 15 minutes ago. I didn't get the quote alert from this post by Chiffy. This is the 1st time ever the problem happens to me in this thread. My Likes alerts are still on-time. My last quote alert was from this post, 30 minutes prior to the problem incident. Currently the community lounge thread is marching onto Page 1091.

I am not sure which device Chiffy was on or should it make any difference.

I also noticed something odd happening in the Random Number thread. A new member was able to post 24 times with a single time stamp, and a couple minutes earlier (or later, I don't recall) did 15 posts in the same minute.

It is possible that member was using the mobile app, and it's possible the mobile app doesn't have the 30 second limit. Or it's possible the thread is broken like the other big threads, so they can just keep clicking "post reply" without refreshing or seeing the post appear. Or they could have found a strange hack?

Confirmed: No More Quote Alert in Community Lounge thread.

I just did a test-post to quote myself. The alert didn't come. So I just ID the time and post when this problem first occurred (i.e. Chiffy's post that quoted me). Hopefully Tim & Co can dig dirt from the clues I obtained.

Let me know what else we can do to help in said thread and what the admin plan to do with the community lounge thread. Give us a headsup if Community Lounge -- Part Two is in the near future.

Another strange update.

G_G just quoted me but I got the alert this time! He said he's on a (Dell) desktop. But my self-quoted post was on a Thinkpad at home that I didn't get an alert. I "think" Chiffy was on a mobile device since he's traveling up to Boston.

So now I am confused! Did we break the Community Lounge thread or not?

Or is it a preamble of thread breakdown?

Or was it just a momentary MP hiccups?

Now my head hurts!

Posting from my laptop, I still see the thirty second rule in the Random Number thread. Twenty-four posts in one minute should be close to the maximum that's physically feasible. Impressive!

It just happened again!

Things have been going quite normal on MP and my alerts with on-time arrival, until 10 minutes ago.

I got quoted in this post but no alert ever arrives.

Does our IT Dept figure out what's the problem or where's the bug yet?

I might say that you're the one in a time warp as you responded today to something that I posted on August 21.

Well, the like alert came but no quote alert for this post today.

Not sure if it has anything to do with his iOs5 upgrade but ACMM is using his MilePoint enabled iPhone.

Is the tech dept able to find any pattern in this line of mystery yet?

I just spotted one of these. Catgirl liked and quoted one of my posts, I got the like alert but not the quote alert. Concerto had quoted the same post a few minutes earlier, I did get the alert for that quote.

I just checked my alerts and found one for being quoted. It was correct, but I didn't try to find any quotes that did not generate an alert, so I just know that it at least works sometimes for me.

I've been having this issue for the past few days.

Just now noticed a quote of an article I posted -- no alert received. And yes, I checked my preferences, which are set to alert on quotes (& likes).

I've updated the status on this to 'Pending' as the software developers are working on the issue and hope to have a solution included in the next major update. Thanks all for your continued patience.

I've been so spoiled by and used to MP's Quote Alerts now. I hate to miss something that's waiting for my responses when getting quoted without the headsup. It appears the mobile platform is the one to blame, among other things? It'll be a much appreciated improvement if this "bug" gets fixed soon.

Any idea when will be the next major update, Mikel?

I'm not as concerned about having to issue a rebutle, but would like to see what people are saying in response to what I posted.

The Quote Alerts feature on MP is way ahead of what several other forums I use have.

Not sure if its related, but I also notice that I'm not getting alerts on watched threads (I select watch with no email). There's new postings and I don't get an alert.

"Watch" feature (or "subscribe" on TOBB) is a different set of features from "Quote." What I've been discussing in thread is about alerts when one's posts get quoted.

FWIW, if I am not mistaken, you don't get alerts triggered with new posting in your "Watched threads." You have to click on the "Watched Threads" tab at the top panel to get into your "watch list", where you'll see your "Unread Watched Threads" in bold, if any. Hope that helps.

I was only mentioning it in case it was an 'alert' issue and not a quote or watch issue.

For what its worth, today I got alerts on both quotes and on watched threads. So something is back to working.

Just happened again. Friendly Skies "liked" one of my posts, and one minute later quoted it. My alerts show the like, but not the quote.

I'm having the same issued, although not with your posts.

I believe that I have diagnosed the primary cause of this "bug."

Does my theory above explain the cause? If not, can you point us to some particular posts?
