You are right, I had 5 segments before 12/1 that I got the MegaDo bonus around the same time as the charter flight. I accounted the 15K additional MM to the charter and not to the bonus miles, checking the "Million Miler Miles" counter on AA.com (which I have not done before ) showed my error. :(

Wait, that incident is the best thing ever to happen to New Mexico. Who would have heard about it otherwise?

Agree on all points. I'm already very happy with AA regardless of whether this challenge works for me - it probably won't. Might have been a lot more possible to go for it if they had been able to announce the details of how it was going to work earlier. It's a very interesting way they decided to set it up, wasn't really expecting them to set the requirements based upon flying habits for a 3-month period early last year, but maybe that goes with a philosophy of them wanting to especially encourage MegaDoers new to AA to keep on flying AA. Anyway kudos to AA for going all out to make all of this a wonderful experience for all of us!

    Nothing for me either

The thinness of AA's route network in many places is also a limiting factor for me - it makes it impossible to fly AA metal all the time and, although the situation has improved with closer ties with JL, AS, etc. it is also not possible for me to fly AA codeshares to everywhere I go.

Yea it would be nice if they could throw in something that will work for the majority of customers that qualify on miles rather than points (although I certainly understand why they want to offer something extra to the latter.) I remember I looked at last year's promo and found that at each level it always made sense for me to go for the next tier status qualification rather than the Elite reward.

I just received a postcard from the Century City with the following offer:
My travels rarely take me towards that part of LA, but 3,000 points would be a nice bonus if I happen to be in the area.

Should we be worried? I'd hate to log all this travel only to realize that I wasn't registered or somehow eligible for the challenge. :(

    Suzanne's post mentioned this:

Perhaps your email wasn't registered with American Airlines?

i PM'd the AA rep on MP and they sent me how many miles i flew last year. We are all autoregistered for the promo. I think we never got the emails because we didn't "opt in" for AA emails on our Aadvantage accounts.

If you haven't received a reply, ping me or the AA rep and we'll get you sorted out.

I am looking to pull the trigger on my first ever mileage run with the added incentive from the post mega do challenge. Ideally I would like to stay at least one night and be a tourist for the day wherever I am going. If anyone had anything in the works and would like some company please let me know. Flexible schedule! My closest airports are JFK/LGA.

Hi Everyone, NYCAdventurer's wife here. Met some of you at Puglias, it was awesome meeting you all. Hope to get together again!
BTW - This is my first post!

I have a few long trips coming up in the next three months so this promo will work very well for me. Could anyone please explain how bonuses combine? For example: ORD-LAX-PVG March 15-21. N fare would earn a 50% bonus, DEQ11 will still apply, I am executive platinum, and will earn triple miles for the Megado bonus. ORD-LAX 1745 miles, LAX-PVG 6485 miles. Thanks in advance for clarification.

Welcome! I didn't have the pleasure of meeting you at Puglia's, one of my favorite restaurants. However, we're glad to have you here at MP. My wife has gradually started to buy into my madness as it relates to airline travel. I haven't gotten her to post yet, but I think I might get her to come on the next MegaDo.

If hubby NYC doesn't give you all the help you need getting acquainted here, feel free to ask us for help!

How about SFO, SAN or HON?? Or hopping over the pond to Europe since you are on the right coast. I've gone there for one night (maybe 2, to be honest...but I come from the other coast and its a longer commute).
