USA Today: Ongoing conflict severely limits tourism in Afghanistan

Good morning from, well, Kabul...but I'm here for work. I have seen beautiful lakes, mountains, drives, and even flown over where the Taliban destroyed the ancient Buddha statues since I first came here many years ago.

I think, in the long term, there is a lot of potential here for tourism. But its not just insurgents/military presence that create problems. Smuggling and criminal activity also pose a problem.
