    Darn I missed those Cameroon loans as I was distracted doing housework. I knew there was a reason that housework was a bad thing to do.

    Just found this thread. My current personal goal is respect my budget. It is too easy to want to loan to everything.

    Respect your budget! :eek:
    Such heresy! ;)
    Throw him off the team :D

    In all seriousness, it is important to remember that there will always be other opportunities to help and donate later on, and that there are hundreds of thousands of other Kiva lenders and hundreds of thousands of Kiva borrowers.
    On this team we sometimes get caught up in the excitement of more and faster and forget about the simple, quiet joys of one loan at a time. One loan at a time.

    Yes indeed. Do not lament the loan that you couldn't make. Rejoice in the loans you have already made.

    And don't forget to relend when the repayments come in. :)

    As I was reviewing my portfolio a few moments ago I discovered that I was $425 away from a long-help personal goal. I intended to reach that goal just before the upcoming milepoint Kiva DO, but October has become a trifle out of hand, so...I decided to do it today. Now I feel very good about that. :D Goals are meant to be exceeded I suppose, when we're members of this team!

    It does get so addictive, just one more.

    Personally I can't wait for this time next year when the monthly repayments should be significantly higher from all our recent new money as that should allow us to bombard each and every loan Kiva throws our way.

    True enough. Our twelve-step program, though, is about deepening our addiction, not curing it!:D

    I am using the same technique that one uses for the purchase of bonds and their maturation dates.
    I have carefully laddered my loans in a way that repayments are scheduled in a"compound interest way" I have slowly built up a portofolio and with the reinvestments and the new loans the capital is growing and hopefully the microlendees are better off.

    Slowly starting to do that too.

    And as a true addict, I am uncarefully making loans so that I will be repaid so that I can make more loans so that I will be repaid so that I can make more loans...............
    Some of us are way beyond the twelfth step. True junkies lose the ability to count. :p

    Nov = 2 reloans
    Dec = 12 reloans
    Jan = 11 reloans
    etc etc..... :cool:
  2. YULtide Gold Member

    Except with those 14 loans from Nov and Dec repaying, it will be more like 13 or 14 in Jan. :cool:

    Everyone here needs to remember that every $25 counts! We do talk about that, then get caught up in our points madness and make more loans. But every $25 counts.

    Everyone is a milepoint Kiva Diamond as far as I am concerned. We are all an Elite bunch of people.

    ACMM, whenever you join the team and make your first loan, I will make a loan, too, in honor of the occasion.
