    Sorry for the delay..

None so far and no non-stop flight available. Airport served by respective hubs of 3 airlines within the state.

Minor point: is UA actually "based" in Houston now? Not to listen to the Houstonians, heh heh, and, technically, ExpressJet seems to be based in Georgia. All that said, I think I knew what you meant :)

    CRP?

Yes, folks, this really is the fringe of an airport. One that serves all the alliances, actually.

No, though nonstops from here to there are quite common.

    AUS? Texas Land Conservancy?

No, though the projects are relatively similar. Wrong airport. Though once again, nonstops are available.

Not to sound repetitive, but nonstops are available. Additional clue: I venture to say most if not all regulars on this thread have been to today's mystery airport. I know I have, a whole 'buncha' times.

    DFW?

Not DFW, though - you saw this coming - nonstop flights are available. Can anyone read the on the back of the shirt, under the word "team," of the young woman near the left of the pic, helping with her right hand to carry the tarp?

Looks kinda like an "LAxx" so I'll guess they're policing the Playa del Rey sand dunes west of LAX.

    Ding, Ding! Your turn, Gardyloo.

Actually, the shirts say "Team LAWA." And that stands for "Los Angeles World Airports," owner of Los Angeles International, by at least one measure the world's sixth largest airport, and better known to its friends as "LAX."

LAWA posted the picture on the LAX "Facebook" page, along with this caption, which I actually found quite interesting:

"Team LAWA volunteers clean up and maintain The El Segundo/LAX Coastal Dunes, located along the western boundary of LAX, that is home to many rare plant and animal species. Volunteers assist with the removal of selected invasive non-native plants, allowing native plants to grow, and/or with the collection of plant seeds that LAWA wishes to propagate in other areas. LAWA began the LAX Dunes Restoration Project in 1986. The 307-acre, coastal dunes habitat west of LAX is now home to more than 1,000 species of plants and animals. The dunes contain 43 acres of original native dunes habitation that are virtually undisturbed and is the largest remaining coastal dune fragment in Southern California. (photo courtesy of Team LAWA)"

I assume this photo is from the "Surfridge" subdivision area - the one that forms the "ghost streets" you see when departing w/b from LAX. My family had friends who lived there before their house was taken under eminent domain - "compulsory purchase" to the Brits. When I was a kid in the 1950s a favorite uncle of mile made a "flying saucer" kite - balsa, aluminum foil, around 4 feet in diameter - that we flew out of the old subdivision before the airport people fenced it off. One day we had it out around 500-600 feet (had to use really strong monofilament to hang on to it) when a cop car races up and tells me to HAUL THAT THING BACK IN RIGHT NOW SONNY as it was pinging like mad on the airport radar. My uncle (an NCO in the Marine Corps) was quite abashed, but we complied and at least didn't end up in jail. Or in Area 51, worse luck.

    Okay, anyway, up next...

Out of your normal areas but BUR?

I have flown to BUR many times. The area around this airport has been featured in products produced by people who commonly keep their aircraft at BUR and VNY, but there are no commercial flights between these two airports.

Attempted public-service here that is probably futile.

All us old guys don't have the sharp vision that jbcarioca has obviously managed to retain, hehheh, so I tried to blow this up. It lost some of its sharpness in the process, but I decided to go ahead and post it anyway. And I still ahve absolutely no idea where it is :)

This is an airport now served by several airlines none of which serve BUR. Does that help?

TIP on a particularly warm day?

Definitely not TIP, but TIP is within range of a 777-300ER like AA's new airplanes, but there is no service between the two airports without a connection or two.
