I don't think it would hurt to go for it but are the cars worth it? I never had a good car from Hertz?

I've been PC all year and haven't seen any sort of measurable improvement in car quality. YMMV

I use the Guaranteed Car Rental benefit about once every year. Christmas Eve I needed a car for a day. Everyone is sold out, including Hertz. Until I log-in. Then, A-F cars show up at my corporate rate. Not cheap at 50$ a day, but a car is a car. Used a couple 25$ off service recovery coupons to cover most of the rental.

Ok so since I read this thread I thought maybe I should try Hertz. ( even though the last time they gave me crap cars twice ) I rented from RNO and both times I had a really nice car. Well the first time was a Cruz which was itty bitty, but fully loaded for a rental car. But then they gave me this really nice traverse. DVD player sun roof XM... So I need to try another airport and then I can say if it's worth it.

Do they check for age restrictions with that code?

I dont know. If you get away with it great,if you get busted you may be blacklisted renting with hertz. No risk ,no reward!

I think I've rented from Hertz maybe once, although I am PC via match. National certainly has not done anything to persuade me to rent elsewhere. It would be interesting to see what PC provides, though.

I really feel like PC is just like national. Except they don't let me pick my car like national does.....

Tell them what cars you would prefer.

I'd much rather just take what I want, much of the time.

PC needs to mean legitimately better upgrades to beat National's approach (or join them with an actual equivalent), and the meager guarantee of a 1-class upgrade doesn't do much to communicate any real upgrade generosity, whether such generosity exists or not.

    NO

I have it. Never a decent car "upgrade". Gold Choice row is much better usually at DCA

Actually saving money at any cost is NOT the MilePoint spirit. Saving money using fair practices is our spirit. I'd suggest posting anything that is not a fair on some other website, not this one.

In my experience w/ PC, Large Airport locations give you a very generous upgrade usually Prestige vehicle. MID + SMALL AP locations are more modest maybe a couple classes up. HLE maybe one class but not guaranteed. Franchises forget it. If you only need one rental go for it you will definitely get $20 worth of upgrades over the course of a year.

I think you may have been very lucky. I am PC and usually rent from SFO. I usually get upgrades but have never had a Prestige vehicle. Renting from BOS, I had one of the worst cars I've ever driven. So, personally, I have noticed nothing to indicate I get better treatment.

I've been PC for a good while. I find I get decent upgrades at the stations that are most likely to have good cars that people are likely to pay for - for instance, I've gotten BMW 330s at LAX a lot - and other stations where people are more likely to pay for higher end vehicles and have large fleets, you're more likely to get better upgrades. SFO, MIA, PBI, DFW, etc have all given me good upgrades over the years.

Main airports are LAX LAS TPA MCO so that may have something to do with upgrades.

From most European locations in Germany, France, Sapin and UK where i have rented I usually get Prestige vehicles normally BMW 5 series or MB C or E class, when i rent for mid-size. In the US upgrades have varied from lots of MB C and BMW 3 series to trivial one class upgrades, depending on how heavy the local traffic is. I have had excellent upgrades from franchisees in Brazil, Hungary and CLT, but franchisees are the luck of the draw. I use my normal corporate code and never ever any promotion code not offered to me by hertz.

I'm also a Sixt fan, but generally prefer hertz, especially in the US.

PC is worth it completely IMHO.
