USA Today: Rick Steves' best European public squares http://m.usatoday.com/article/travel/54258032 Perhaps some ideas for those coming to our side of the Pond... Posted to milepoint using my iPhone
Il Campo in Siena is a good one. I can't even imagine what it's like during Il Palio Oh, and here's the link for those who want the full page, not the mobile version: Rick Steves' best European squares
i am kind of surprised he didn't mention Munich MarienPlatz(sp?) for the big town clock, people watching and relaxing, though perhaps that is b/c it is often crowded. there isn't anything listed for the UK either. speaking of the UK, i was just online with my London friend, planning our visit which of course includes a trip to Borough Market in June. not exactly a plaza like in the article, but a favorite of mine, none the less.
I have to admit looking at the link from the main page saying "Rick Steve 'best European public..." I thought it was going to be "toilets" not "squares"
We had just a few days ago a visit to Krakow and yes, the Rynek Główny [ Main square ] is most beautiful as is the Stary Rynek in Poznan which we have also visited on the same trip through Poland.
