I don't think I am the only one seeing a lot of mess right now, multiple same posts, etc. Also it seems that threads are having new replies but not showing in the main listing as new replies.
Just saw this, plus on the reply to the thread explaining it... New thread or reply, it seems you get the same thing... server error but it actually does post. Using Chrome, although I don't think it matters.
Al, I have been unable to post on the Kiva Lounge Thread. As Stephen mentioned "server error" appeared when I tried to post. Despite that it is here. Obviously.
I am getting errors when trying to reply or when trying to like someone else's comment. Glad to see that others are having a problem too and MilePoint is not just mad at me.
I get notice of 'like' but see no like on post. I saw likes on posts earlier that have disappeared. I think the SQL backend is out of whack!
A little while ago, as I was realizing there was a problem, I tried multiple times to like a post. I noticed that every other time I clicked "like", someone else who had previously liked the post disappeared from the post. I accidentally deleted 2 or 3 other likes from the post I was trying to like. At least that's what it looked like I was doing. I have no idea if this was truly happening in the back end.
Plus the reply count is acting up too. Right now this thread shows 0 replies and doesn't show as having any new posts in the "What's New" section, yet here we are.
same here, both like and post give the error, but if I refresh the page I see the like registered and the post posted. Two more things- it doesn't happen on "edit post" only on the initial post. And note that every reply here after the OP is listed as milepost #2 in this thread. On the front page of this forum it shows this thread has zero replies, but there are currently about 10 replies, all tagged as reply #2.
I find it interesting that MilePoint is having server issues and at the same time, my blog website is down due to server issues. Perhaps they are trying to take IndulgeTheWanderlust.com over and ran into problems. Maybe they will give me an iPad to compensate for the problems. Or maybe it is just coincidence. Network Solutions has assured me that my site will be up within the next 4 hours (after being on the phone for about an hour). Now we can have a race to see which will be fixed first, MilePoint or my site. Everybody place your bets.
Well, it looks like the race is over. My site is back up and running. Network Solutions came in closer to their 15 minute minimum time to fix than their 4 hour maximum.
The other thing I have noticed. I am set up to auto watch a thread when I reply. This function is not happening. Although I can manually watch a thread still.
Also note that three earthquakes in past hour. San Diego region, Papua New Guinea region and Mexico near Acapulco 7.2 reported.......
Might want to kill the BoardingArea feed in the next 10 minutes or we're going to see another copy of the Ghetto IFE post on Air Berlin joining OW.
Glad to see this is being looked at. Glad to see this is being looked at. Glad to see this is being looked at. Glad to see this is being looked at. Glad to see this is being looked at. Glad to see this is being looked at.
Ok, now we're getting somewhere. Please continue to post here if you receive errors and if you're able, please also copy and paste the first sentence of the error message (which you hopefully won't get anymore).
look at the milepost count for each post on this page (and in any other thread active during the breakage). All the posts from that period still have the same post number, #2.
I have attempted to insert an image in post 8 and it does not show. No I am not showing something that is harder. I respect the family atmosphere on this board. Edit. The image did show when I attempted to place it a third time. I could not use the image location insert feature but had to upload it from my desktop. This has occurred a few times the past few days. Please take better care of Al. Thanks.
Is it me or did some of the posts disappear? I know I commented on some of the discussions and my comments are no longer there.
It looked like database corruption in progress to me, so it is possible if they ran a repair routine it dropped some content from that period if it was very corrupted.
The issues mentioned above with the insertion of images is no longer present. Thanks for fixing the problem. If you did nothing just nod and accept my hosannas.
Some of the threads are also not updating after adding a new entry. For example, the infamous counting thread at http://milepoint.com/forums/threads/count-backwards-from-123-456.650/page-3922.
Hey All, You are correct @ Stephen that there was some Database Corruption; However, that was remedied and you are correct again in that may have dropped some posts that were made during the time the DB was going through it corruption. As far as this issues of the repeating post numbers these numbers are part of the permanent record so to speak. To try and change them at this point could be worse overall so I have decided to leave them if there not causing any other problem. New posts #'s after the repair seem to be working fine. For the final comment @ misman you are correct.. there is a know issue with extremely long threads and this has to do with the back end software that runs the board. We are working with the developers of this system but so far they have only been able to provide temporary solutions for older distributions and we are up to date.
Thanks, Bill. Is this one of those things that we'll just have to live with for an extended period of time? If Randy has another of his "post in this thread for a chance to win xxx, you're going to have a problem. Those dwarf the counting thread in size.
This has been a long standing issue on many fora software, including the mainstay vbulletin. It isn't 'easily' fixed by any normal means.
