The slow travel boards use terms like New Member Traveler Slow Traveler Gathering Hero I like stone, and metal is ok. Alabaster Sandstone Granite Limestone Marble or tin copper bronze iron
talc (for those who post to Off Topic) gypsum (for travel hackers) calcite (for Swiss and Wisconsinites) fluorite (for most of us) apatite (only for those who post to the thread Food Porn) ...
How about by airline quality (this should spark some debate) in order of best to worst?: I'm a bit of a *A homer, hence the options. 1. Emirate Level 2. Lufthansa Level 3. United/CO Level 4. USAir Level 5. Frontier / Southwest
I take it new members are First, and as you add more points you move to biz and finally achieve steerage? I think that's a good system, welcomes the newbies and tweaks the dykwia's.
It would suck if we had to re-qualify status every year. Wonder if that's in their back of tricks on the admin side....
We're still working out the details of the claim process, but we're narrowing to a solution. As 744 said, "Stay tuned."
Any status level names should be 'fun' and not give a sense of ... POWER ego or DYKWIA ego. "Do you see my status level on MilePost. Please bow down to me and like me."
The XenForo boards, for developers and users of this software, uses the following titles (and probably others that I haven't spotted): New Member Member Active User Well-Known Member Barefoot Designer Just bein' me... (I wonder if the last two are user-selected; i.e. if people get to create their own status?) (OT, but from that site was a link to http://xenstyles.com/ which shows interesting skins for the forums, some ideas to consider?)
My suggestions: The levels from top to bottom Randy Bingham (after Clooney in Up in the Air, flying is his/her life) Pilot (flies for job) Lindbergh (Charles Lindberg: passionate about taking one particular dream flight) Babbitt (Dustin Hoffman, Rainman: he is afraid of flying)
FWIW.. as in the past.. I still like "Member" when you first register.. 'n it's so darn simple as well
Maybe I'm missing something, but I have yet to see status levels listed on anyone's profile (other than New Member, Member, Original Member.) Is the intention that the status level will eventually appear under the user's handle and avatar?
That is the intention, yes. Currently, the "Original Member" title maintains display priority over other titles, which is why you do not see the other titles. At some point however, members will no longer be able to earn Original Member status, and then you will begin seeing other titles. Of course, all of this is the tentative plan and is subject to change as conditions warrant.
Perhaps I just don't have the ego for all this status gibberish. What does it really matter, anyway? Just tell me how to make inexpensive mileage runs from downstate Illinois. That's what we're here for, isn't it? And maybe how to maximize those hotel points too. After all, the site is called "milepoint" Not statuspoint.
You have a point, trying to achieve levels only encourages unnecessary posting of irrelevant comments. We need to encourage quality content, not volume.
Not to trash this thread, but I'm about 45 miles S of MLI and 65 miles W of PIA. Lambert is about 165 miles due S. We're kinda out in the middle of and between a corn field, bean field, and a hog confinement. Thanks for asking. UAL and AA are the main players here.
