It might seem trite, since I was just elevated to gold, but other than desiring to have a grasp the reasoning and rubric of how to get there why are people getting hung up on this? Whether it be a hotel, airline, rental car company etc there are inherent benefits with status. None of that exists on MilePoint. Push for the delineation of how to get there: fine. As for the titles: who cares. Call me 'Grand Vermin' for all I care.
Yes, Alex.. And I especially like the great option we each have now to keep our 'status' undisplayed & completely secret.. It's so nice to be a MilePoint 'Platinum' quietly.. & have no one know it! Being a "member" is still what its all about to me.. Just let me get in, 'legally' .. & allow me to be able to say something without being 'arrested'
The titles are really irrelevant ... having said that I must also state that the current level names are nice in that there's that familiar feeling fro FF pairline program etc
Well, then. You've made me think, which is no mean feat on a weekend morning. Seriously, though, wouldn't the variable (and rather opaque) status-ranking algorithm tend to redirect people away from trying to game the system? That being said, I would guess that one of the reasons why most of us here continue to participate on a relatively low-traffic messaging-system is that the "core activity of helping each other maximise our travel experience" is actually continuing to shine through any local accumulations of frivolous posts. So, in the end, I wouldn't worry too much about the impacts and side-effects of a labelling-scheme. Heck, the algorithm could call me Double Scotch Girl if it so wanted, and I wouldn't be greatly offended. Let the algorithm move the aiming-stakes as it may, I'll still be here. All the best, The Dozing Woman In Seat 1A, aka Double Scotch Girl.
