My understanding is that former SPG cardmembers are not eligible for the first-purchase bonus, but that even return customers can earn the separate 20K bonus for hitting the spend target. Anyone have experience with this, or even a random uninformed opinion?

Hi, it seems the Business version is not working, after I filled in all the information and clicked "Continue to Verify", it doesn't continue and IE status bar has "Error in page"?!
Thanks William. It's strange because I referred a bunch, and only one of them has received anything from AMEX so far. He was also the most recent referral. The rest haven't received anything yet.
It's funny, too, that AmEx would initially target some for referrals and then open it up. Maybe they were tired of giving the 5,000 points? Darn, as I was really hoping for a few more referrals -- for those of you who don't yet have the card, those Starpoints are really awesome!
There's no reason for people not to use a referral. The spirit of community would encourage it actually.
I think I figured it out. The ones who didn't receive the emails probably had previously opted out of marketing emails from AMEX. D'oh.
I'll bet you're right. I always think opting out is a good idea until I miss out on something like this one -- so then I end up missing things because they are buried somewhere in my overloaded inbox!
yeah i didn't get the initial referral option due to opt-out. anyway, i am able to refer and can provide some OE as to some of the best redemptions i've found
William, you've probably answered this elsewhere and i should probably just know this anyway, but what property is pictured in your avatar?
So, American Express says it would take a matter of hours before your referral should get an email. They also offered some suggestions as to why some may get it and others not. For instance, have your friends checked their spam folder or have they asked to be removed from AMEX's email distribution lists or have you entered their email address correctly? Just as an FYI, the two issues most commonly reported appear to be fixed now. The submission button for the Business card application is now working and the lesser offer of 25K as opposed to 30K for referrals should not appear using this url: https://www201.americanexpress.com/c...enCampId=20048 which has also replaced the original in the first post of this thread.
