Given the time right now, guess I have to note that it arrived via Fed Ex yesterday afternoon, but I didn’t get home till it was dark. So, after realizing what it was once I opened the shipping package, I held off going any further till it was daylight later today. I’ll try to post some photos of the package and card once I do so.

Mine arrived yesterday as well. Card is solid dark grey metal. Heavy! And hard to read. Interesting map of the world with dots for all the Starwood hotels I have stayed at since 1999. Otherwise no big deal. No luggage tags, which would have been nice.

No suites certs in the package - just the metal card. Certs all seem to be done electronically. So far in my past 2 stays I did not get to use any of my 10 certs yet.

I didn’t have enough nights for that, so no suite certs for me.

Here are some photos of the package and what was inside,

Nice of them to put my name there.

Metal etched or embossed card. While the front is that way and comes with a peel-off plastic film, the back has a stick on plastic film with the phone numbers, etc. you see on all elite cards that doesn’t peel off. Makes sense as phone numbers may change. Wonder if they’ll send out new backs if they do.

Seeing it that way shows I need to get around more! This is the front of a folder that opens up.

    IMG_0396.jpg
Inside is a booklet listing benefits.

    The booklet of benefits.
    IMG_0398.jpg
The rest of the pages are the listing of the standard benefits of Platinum status at SPG, so I didn’t shoot those.

BTW, at all the check-ins I’ve done since Lifetime status notification, not a single Desk Agent has congratulated on Lifetime status. They’ve congratulated or thanked me for the loyalty shown by my Plat status, but there’s been no reference to Lifetime, and I’ve still not gotten always great rooms at the start of things. Just goes to show what I related in another thread here I was told by SPG exec’s at an SPG event in NYC earlier this year: Platinum is Platinum is Platinum. Whether you’re Lifetime or annual, same same. Only difference comes from having 50 nights or more having additional benefits.

I was told the hotel computers don;t (ye) have a place for Lifetime status, (as opposed to Hyatt and Marriott which do) so there is no ay for the hotel top know you are Lifetime. At least now with the new metal card you can show them you are Lifetime. I am told that will get you 2 copies of USA Today delivered to your door. :)

As I mentioned above, SPG execs told me that they want to keep it as “A Plat is a Plat is a Plat” in terms of base level benefits, and that‘s okay by me. I don’t plan on flashing the card that much, unless I have a problem with getting a suite when I know there’s a standard one available, and we’ll see how much the card matters then. I’m happy not to have to worry anymore about switching hotels during a stay in a city just to be sure I qualify for Plat for the next year.:)

Unless, of course, they do another stay-based promo.

Congrats. SPG always seem to do thing so well and this is another example. I wonder if you can get replacement cards as a lifetime is a long time!

Confess that I’m confused by the notation that I’ve been a member since 1999. Started with SPG well before that.

SPG didn't start before 1999. Before that, there was Westin Premiere and Sheraton Club International, but both those programs ended in 1999 when SPG began.
