I'm under the impression that the rates were good through the monday after the DO, sept 12 if people were staying longer. I dont think it meant that rooms had to be booked by this upcoming monday

If one does not go on the charters, is it possible to still participate in a part of the DO in one of the cities where the events are taking place, such as Denver or Chicago and stay at the Hyatt?

No as the US/Canadian portion is The SMD3 and costs are covered in the Charter fee. It is the A380-MUC-ORD that is optional and appears to be semi-open if you've booked The Charter. (Technically speaking, the LH flights to/from MUC are not charter flights but merely blocks of seats set aside on scheduled flights.) After all, there will be dozens of European and Asian MPers who will do the SMD3 but will be booking their own flights between MUC and ORD as well as from/to their home cities. (At least that's my interpretation of what's been posted.)

The elite bonuses are whatever would be applicable for a normal flight. The LH Z flights will earn EQMs as indicated on the UA website.

The requirement for Hyatt Diamond status is to stay at least one night in EACH of the official hotels. If there is an *extreme* circumstance that doesn't allow you to do so, contact us offline and we'll see if an exception can be made.

The MUC activities are only open to charter participants at this time based on capacity.

So when is this going to happen?
Lots of false promises so far, hope it all works out to be as amazing as it sounds...

Finally, the Mega DO gets onboard the Airbus 380 LH 401 JFK-FRA 3:40PM

1. Any group transportation option from Andaz to JFK? Otherwise, looks like cab is only option with revised tight schedule. I suppose we could form our own groups.

2. With the tour now moved to 11AM (from an earlier time - I believe it was 8AM) - the send off party at the LH lounge is delayed from Noon to 2PM. Any reason this was moved to the later times?

The delayed time makes the Andaz more rushed. I would have like to have spent more than 1 hour at the LH lounge in JFK. Makes just flying up from IAD-JFK almost just as quick as a cab ride from NYC.

1. So the US portion of the Star Mega DO 3 starts in Chicago and ends in DEN, with no return flight to ORD?

2. If one purchases the F United fare for the US portion, then you would earn the 50 percent EQM bonus crediting to Mileage Plus. How would this be calculated? Is the 9440 EQMS the full total that is earned, or is it 9440 + EQM F bonus? What is the final EQM total earned for buying the F fare and crediting to Mileage Plus?

3. Earning Hyatt Diamond requires staying one night at all 3 North American properties(Chicago O"Hare Hyatt, Montreal Hyatt, Hyatt Regency Denver), but is it only valid via booking the Star Mega Do rate, or can another rate be booked if these blocks sell out and still earn Diamond status?

2. Bonus miles are ALL calculated on the base miles for the trip. This includes elite status bonuses and the EQMs UA/CO are giving SMD participants.

4. No. I don't have the date handy, but it will be sometime in mid-July.

Is the total number of EQMs earned from the SMD3 North American First class ticket 9440 plus 2360 = 11,800? Thanks, and sorry for so many questions.

Will transportation be provided from the Hyatt Regency O'Hare to the Park Hyatt Chicago on Wednesday afternoon?

If not, it's a short walk over to the CTA blue line station. Trains go right into the city and a transfer to the red line will take you to within a couple of blocks of the Park Hyatt.

Of more concern is how checked bags will be handled on Thursday and Friday mornings. Do we check in for our flight, then go airside for the tour and flight of ORD? (I think that's how we did it for SMD1 at ORD.) But at YUL we will need our bags for US customs pre-clearance so buses will have to hold them until we get to the terminal building.

Biggest drawback at SMDs is the fact that everyone's an elite so check-in at airports and hotels is somewhat crazy since priority lines turn into the longest lines!

I don't believe so, but not solidified. We are planning to have transportation back to the Hyatt ORD that evening.

That should be how things work in ORD, but we haven't locked down YUL yet.

Taking the CTA(El train) from O"hare is easy, fast, and much more inexpensive than taking a cab or renting a car. Take the blue line from O'Hare to Jackson, then transfer to the Red line going in the direction of Howard, and exit at the Chicago Red line stop. The Park Hyatt is close to the station.

Pizza, if there's no planned transport from ORD to Park Hyatt, will the people on the optional LH excursion need to arrange for transport or do you think the euro participants will have something in place?

If you are arriving in the afternoon, the fastest way to downtown Chitown is to take the train. I have watched cars stuck in traffic jams on the expressway as the blue line train goes efficiently into town.

Yes, no transportation planned as there will be time to relax at the Hyatt O'Hare before heading downtown.

I'm taking the L. It's a 3 minute walk from the hotel and quicker than a cab due to heavy traffic at that hour

any more info on the potential f16 rides? is that an auction like the sim time in option 1, or if you choose the air national guard path you get a ride (i know status says "working on" but i was hoping to find this out... might be part of my go-no-go decision)

If you're an existing Hyatt Diamond (and hit the required SMD hotels), do you get your status extended? Or is this offer/benefit only for new, currently non Diamond members?
