At this time you can't make a deposit. Registration had been briefly open twice in the past, but is now on hold until the official launch of SMD3. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day.
They will announce when the window will reopen. Scroll back a few posts and all the details are spelled out.
Sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun. I'm not ruling it out, but it seems unlikely for me. If there's ever a SMD that combines NH or OZ and SQ and NZ, I'll be among the first to sign up.
Can't wait to sign up! Edited to add: I hope this doesn't sell out too quickly. Last year's event was awesome, but I'm in rural Ireland until Wednesday on vacation with my wife, and the Internet connections seem few and far between lately... Don't want to miss out! TheBOAT
The original post said all participants who do the minimum number of stays at Hyatts (one night at the three primary properties in Chicago, Montreal and Denver) will get Diamond status through to 2/2013, including current Diamonds whose status would be extended a year. Current Diamonds are also supposed to get further bonuses yet to be disclosed. Hotels Partner (Hyatt) Every SMD participant will get instant Hyatt Diamond status (by August 15th), it will be valid till 2/2013 There will also be point earning options for everyone and special gifts for existing Diamonds.
The organizers are working on getting the agenda finalized with the new sponsors/hosts. So, at this point, we don't intend on adding additional mileage partners. If time permits, we will continue to work with the airlines to add more mileage partners.
And I would much prefer valuable SMDIII monies be spent on something other than a shuttle from ORD. It's just not an efficient method of transport in that city.
I agree. My boss of 15 years ago is probably still laughing at me. The first time I went to the restaurant show in Chicago, I hopped off the plane and into a cab. He took the L and beat me to the bar by about 2 hours.
Pizzaman, Is it possible to attend the Chicago and Denver portions only. I might not be able to get away to Canada but would ove to join as much as I can. So I won't need any charter flights but I do need space in all the lounges
Argh, wish I could go, but going on vacation in August. Another vacation in September would be rough... trying to keep my job here
I can't register on the site. Is anyone else having issues registering or is this because it's sold out?
Ok, one more question about the Hyatt status comp - do we each have to book a separate room in order to qualify for the Diamond status? I'm not trying to "cheap" out on this too much, because I want the status, but it seems rather wasteful that my dad and I would book separate rooms and take up unneeded extra hotel space, when we would normally share a room on any other occasion. Thx again for organizing these awesome adventures guys! theBOAT
You only need to get at least 1 night as per earlier postings. Assuming you're going for most of the trip, you could each get a room at the different hotels.
I'm pretty sure that in order to qualify for the Hyatt Diamond status, you need one night at each of the three hotels. So it sounds like you would each need to get your own room if you both want Hyatt Diamond.
PIZZAMAN indicated that we'll get a couple hours of notice prior to the gates opening for registration. Just waiting for the gate agent to prop open the door I guess.
You are responsible for booking and paying for the various Hyatts. If you want to share, and can find someone, you can share. However, it appears only one Diamond membership will be given if this is the case, and it will go to the Gold Passport member whose account is on the folio for the required nights/properties.
The gate lice are gathering, but when the flight is moved back incrementally, you really can't leave the gate area, or else you will miss boarding. I think this flight was supposed to board about 4 or more weeks ago. It's really gonna hurt the on-time performance for this month.
