I had asked some questions on how to address some internet purchases to my hotel for a few upcoming stays, and that thread deviated somewhat to the issue of some hotels charging guests for receiving packages. So then, is there (and if so what is) the official Starwood Policy on fees/charges on Packages that the hotel will receive for registered guests...? Or is there perhaps no Starwood Policy and individual properties have their own guidelines....? Thanks.
I would assume it is determined buy the property. I paid a 5-10 dollar fee last time I had a package shipped to me at a Sheraton.
I've received a handful of packages at hotels over the years (spg and otherwise) and have never been charged a fee.
Some hotels charge for receiving packages and even faxes. Las Vegas is notorious for this. Hotels in big cities and with convention facilities seem the most prone. This is true whether Starwood or other brands
Depends on hotel, call to inquire. We are sending packages daily to our travellers at hotels (boxes of presentation books) and are usually charged $5 "delivery fee" not storage fee so ask about both. I had luggage shipped recently and the hotel concierge said no fee to store so really think property specific.
It's amazing that a hotel would charge for this. I recently received 4 packages at W UNION SQUARE and wasn't charged. Same at ANDAZ WALL ST.
I receive packages at most hotels in which I stay. I have rarely been charged, and IIRC never in a Starwood-owned property. I have been charged at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, the Sheraton Fishermans Wharf (not *W owned), and at the Grosvernor House in London. I do not recall others, but I am sure there have been some. Most of the time I receive FedEx/UPS packages, some of them heavy, and often with cases of wine (not Malbec, I only buy Malbec from the OP!), They cost me tips for delivery to my room, but that is all.
William is away so do allow me to answer on behalf of him. There is no standard policy for hotels receiving packages on behalf of guests. To charge or not depends on individual properties. spgchampion@starwoodhotels.com Thyetus Lee | Social Media Specialist Starwood Customer Contact Centre (AP) Pte Ltd
