Hi, I just noticed that I am Preferred Guest Plus. What are the benefits for Plus account holders? And how did I end up becoming a Plus member (I really have no idea)?
Preferred Plus status is usually given to those aligned with one of our marketing partners. For example, the U. S. version of the SPG AMEX, Starwood Preferred Business, AAA, AARP, etc. The benefits mirror those of the Corporate Preferred level, which are the same benefits a Gold member gets minus the 50% elite member bonus for eligible charges. Here is the link to the various levels of elite status with SPG: https://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/account/member_benefits/preferred.html However there are levels withing the "Preferred" level. That being the Preferred Plus. All this means is that you have been "sponsored" by AAA or AMEX (i.e. having an SPG credit card). Does not really give you any additional benefits.
I disagree. Late check-out (at most hotels and some resorts) is an additional benefit that the basic Preferred member does not get.
Just to add to the additional benefits, Preferred Plus also gets the "enhanced room" upgrade, which standard Preferred members do not get. Like William said, Preferred Plus is the same as Gold without the 50% bonus on points. I am a Preferred Plus member and am happy to sacrifice the bonus points while still receiving Gold benefits. Re-qualification for this status is also not necessary.
I recognize this is an old thread, but rather than starting a new topic, how should I interpret the following account status: Preferred Guest Plus Joined 2002 null Wondering about the "null" part ... Thanks in advance.
I tried again this morning, and "null" still appears in the line below "Preferred Guest Plus". Guess I won't worry about it too much ...
Does the Preferred Plus level still match that of the Gold Level minus the 50% bonus Starpoints? I'm guessing it also doesn't include the new Gold benefit of a welcome gift, but I would love to be proven wrong
Yes. It would not. Best regards, William R. Sanders Social Media Specialist Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide spgchampion@starwoodhotels.com
BTW, the late checkout thing for Preferred plus is very much a hit or miss... of my last 6 stays, only two hotels extended me the later checkout.... guess this is in line with the T&C of the perks (subject to availability, etc.), or...?
The elite late checkout is only subject to availability at resorts and conference hotels? Were you staying at either of those? If not you should have received it
No..... only at Four Points and Aloft. The hotels that did extend the benefit did so but in both cases said that it was a courtesy (making kind of a big deal about it)..... I thought it was strange. No worries, in the end it wasnt too tragic just that Im not sure I still understand what the rules are..... at some point it would be good to know the hard rules in case I need to insist because there is a real issue..... etc.
The next time this happens, and the hotel is neither a resort or conference/convention center, tell them that you intend to file a formal complaint with Corporate Customer Service and see if that changes their tune/attitude. From what I remember reading when I signed up, it's basically a room on a higher floor with a better view. I stayed at a Sheraton once and was put on the Club floor but the Club was not serviced so maybe that's why I got the upgrade haha.
Now Sheraton club lounges (excluding resorts IIRC) are required to be open and service breakfast and evening snacks seven days per week.
I was looking for this information; thanks! I wonder why isnt this in the Wiki? I tried going there first; but there was no info regarding the levels. Can anyone edit the wiki? I couldnt find an edit button.
I made a quick update to the wiki's FAQ page to add this. Additional work on the wiki by others would be appreciated. I don't know the current milepoint status requirements required to edit the wiki. It might require Silver status? Otherwise, a request could be sent to the Admins through the Contact Us link.
I am Gold, but sometimes when I check out, my bill says AAA Preferred plus above my name. I hope I am correct status-wise in the system somewhere. I do get elite points, but hope that my gold status (although not high on the totem pole) gets considered when rooms are assigned.
Does anyone know if preferred plus is still eligible for 4pm late checkout? I was told by westin new york and SPG customer service rep that that 4pm late checkout is only available for gold and platinum members. Thanks for the help!
According to the SPG website's AAA page (on the "Join SPG" tab), it's the same as it's been for years: Join the award-winning Starwood Preferred Guest program and immediately enjoy Preferred Guest Plus® advantages including: Instant upgrade to a Preferred room at check-in* 4pm late checkout* Two Starpoints® for every dollar spent
