I just got in the game 10 days ago and scored my 50k. It was great to be so easy.

I am sorry so few have joined though.

Might have something to do with the quality of hotels. I'm "doing" my one night for the points tonight @ the radisson providence airport. The rooms are very small, molding in the bath is rotted around the door, bed seems nice and has plenty of pillows. There was no mention of any club Carlson benefits or upgrade, the two interns from a local college who checked me in couldn't even operate the credit card imprint machine (yes i said imprint machine when was the last time you saw any place take an imprint), it took 15 minutes to get checked in of course 10 it was them trying to get my amex card out of the machine. I'll never be coming here again.

Yeah but that wouldn't preclude people from at least signing up, even if they don't do the required stay.

And thanks for the heads up on RI, I was thinking of going there for the wife's stay but I'm reconsidering now. I did mine at Valley Forge and it was actually "not that bad" even though the hotel could have used some renovations. When I got there I was upgraded and they acknowledged my status, so I'm guessing -- as with all programs -- that some properties are just better than others.

In the end though I think most people that did sign up for this did it with the prospect of not spending the points anywhere near a category 1-2 or even category 3 hotel. I know I have my sights set on either the new Blu in Chicago or just head to Europe.

Ironically... about a month ago, and at an AT&T store of all places. Their credit card machines were down and it also was the first time I used my Sapphire Preferred card... which added to the confusion as it doesn't have any raised letters/numbers on the front ;)

hello all, this really was a great promo for $77 tax included. Got some shampoo, soap, conditioner, tried out the sleep number (jumped around a little), used the gym, etc. Get it before it is too late but also don't forget if you are new to their loyalty program to use the silver upgrade. Make for a pleasant evening :)

I used this hotel for my run as well and had a very different experience.

They were training a new person at the desk, but had someone with her who knew what he was doing. We did get an upgrade for whatever reason. I will give you from the outside the hotel looks terrible. But the room we had was nice enough. It was 99+t and quite fair for what got me just shy of 55,000 points having never been at one of their hotels before. I do agree with the CC imprint. This took me back a second too, but was no big deal.

For those looking to score on this promotion but don't live near a Radisson, I had an interesting interaction recently. I stayed at the Radisson in East Dallas, Texas because I was visiting some friends and near that side of town. I checked the rate that evening and it was only $55.30. I just looked and that's the same rate showing for a stay tonight or tomorrow. At check-in, I was asked if I was taking advantage of the promotion (which was a first) and said yes. I was then told that I didn't even need to show up because they were just taking phone calls from around the country and checking members in, getting their credit card information and then checking them out the next day and emailing them a receipt.

I told a few other friends and all of them had success calling in. Their points have posted. They made the reservation with a 6 pm cancellation time and called a little before then to talk to the front desk in case the policy had changed they could still cancel their room with no penalty.

Hope this helps members that have to visit family over the holidays with no time or closeness to a Radisson property.

Ha! I stayed at this same property last weekend and the lady smiled and asked if I was doing it for points! She talked about people coming and not having any problem with it. Smart move by them as they'll make easy money and of course, well, 50k points is pretty darn nice!

I stayed at the Radisson Chicago - O'Hare Airport last Thursday and the stay and 50k points were credited when I (finally) looked yesterday.

$103 was a decent rate (was originally going to stay at the Hilton for $150) and received an upgrade at check in (Club Carlson Silver).

    :)

The reports on FT are that this same hotel is now refusing to do phone registrations, because Corporate told them to quit. This change happened roughly a week ago. Has anyone had remote-check-in success since then, at this or any other inexpensive Radisson? (If the information is sensitive, please PM)

I'm not sure this is much of a surprise...we know such matters spread like wildfire and gain (unwanted) attention quickly...

Thanks for the heads up on PVD. Thought about booking a room for tomorrow but think I'll grab my rental car when I land @ Providence and skip the phantom stay at Radisson Providence. I have 50k points already and have absolutely no idea where or when I'll use them. No need to bump that up to 100k (room would be under spouse w/ me checking in first...)

I booked a room for the 29th thinking my wife would be able to go. She isn't going so I decided to make it a little father/son getaway. I emailed the hotel asking if they could switch me to a room with two beds and they said not a problem. But then she asked me if I would prefer a suite instead! I used the silver promo and it has netted me a suite upgrade for a $69 room, heck yeah! First stay with Radisson and I get upgraded to the top, I'm really starting to like this ;)

The property said "no way" to phone checkin today.

Is there another property still open to phone checkins?

If there was, I would suspect it would be told pretty quickly to stop if someone replied here with the details ;) I don't think Club Carlson intended to simply sell 50k points for $50-80 -- if they did, they could have done that directly. They want you to experience Radissons (though I have to admit, I wasn't that impressed with the property I stayed at).

I checked in at the Newport Beach Radisson, went home for the night (which is less than 10-minutes drive away), came back next day to check out. But before checking out, had my boy watch the planes fly in and out of SNA from the room's balcony.

Although I was not overwhelmed by this property, I have to say that they keep a clean, tidy, and well run operation. If I have some family visiting from out of town, I would definitely consider this property for $80/night.

How long is it taking stays to credit? A couple of days after checkout nothing yet.

Usually a few days, though some folks are having to wait a week or more. It took over a week for me, but that was at the very beginning of the promo.

to be clear, for the stay itself to post and not for the 50k bonus?

Took about 7 days and the stay credit and the 50 K posted at the same time. I got 58644 points on $74, one night stay.
