787 receives type certification for the GEnx engines. JL to take delivery of two planes in the next week or so. NH set to take delivery of their next 787 today, not confirmed yet.

Some of the MM are going to small claims court to see about getting their benefits back.

Article says they ferried a replacement 777 the next day. Problem is the replacement went MX too.

My dad told me about a trip on NW 744 from DTW to NRT with inop toilets about 6 hours into flight. He said it was the most miserable disgusting thing he'd ever experienced with people relieving themselves in the lavs anyway and the whole plane stunk. He wished they'd diverted even if stranded for a while.

Sounds like a great idea. Only a public humiliation like that can smack some of those folks back into reality.

Small claims court damages are limited to $3500, right? Plus I don't think you can do a class action, so each person would have to file individually. If multiple people do it, it could work to put some pressure on UA. But not sure I'd want my record marked that I'd sued UA.

Lake Travis is back up to the level around September 8th of last year, up 7ft off the low.

Don't use the words "class action" on TOBB, you might put ideas into their heads .....

By "those people" I assume you mean the self-entitled denizens of the FT UA forum.

Yep, and that is great news for the Austin Mega Do party barge event.

Oh they thought of it, then I pointed they had to survive a motion to dismiss and a motion for summary judgment in order to get to the class certification hearing. Then all the talk went away.

I got that part, but why did it take so long to get a replacement plane there the first AND second times? The worst case scenario is about a 7 hour flight from IAD to ferry a crew+aircraft, throw in two hours for scrambling the crew together. Why did another whole day go by before getting another 777 in? I know UA has a few extra birds and reserve crews... they could have even ferried in a 763 and made it happen spare 80 pax that could have been routed on OAL or sent back to SFO to catch another flight if a spare 777 was so far away....then again having a 763 in China would be stupid since they would have to ferry it back home.

Not to mention that should their case actually have merit, or even get approved for class cert, United can and probably would just shitcan the published MM program and use unpublished measures to reward the customers it values highly, just as it always has.

    colpuck Gold Member

Yeah, that is a strong possibility.

Do any of these people realize that the new UA is now an actual company that has to make money? It sure seems to me that this tiny little detail is lost on a whole lot of people.

Apart from the reality that my mom now needs a wheelchair for airports and we didn't know that, got to the airport fine. Problem with Super Shuttle: too high for mom to get into and out of. So now I need to figure out transit options from JFK. I thought she was being optimistic.
