Just thought I'd share something positive.

I was scheduled to fly SHD-IAD-BOS early 6:45am Friday morning. SHD being in the Shenandoah Valley (hence the name of the airport :) ) had some bad fog in the valley and the flight was cancelled -- it's one of these EAS routes BKW-SHD-IAD -- basically the flight flew from BKW and flewby SHD finishing in IAD.

Anyhow. They booked me at 4pm (there's only 3 flights a day out of SHD) and I got my rental car and drove up to New Market Battlefield and drove around for the day in this really beautiful area of Virginia. Anyway... I was back at the airport around 3pm for the 4:07 and saw that the flight that was supposed to go take us back to IAD had not left on for it's continuing flight to BKW (then BKW-SHD to pick us up then IAD). Anyhow... air conditioning issues. Flight eventually went on to BKW but about 5pm, it was cancelled for the return.

Anyway.. long story short they got use a limo bus (not a really nice one) and we took just over a 2 hour bus drive to IAD. I asked the Colgan rep to note my PNR because I would like to still get the credit on the "flight".

Not sure what they did, but I did get the credit on the flight that became a "bus ride" and it was even posted as Y.

Not bad... I probably could have asked for something else, but I'll be honest with you, the folks working at SHD were very nice and helpful. It seems they get a lot of cancellations and maint issues on this route.

Hopefully if Silver Airlines picks this colgan route up, they'll use some better AC.

Was the bus more comfortable then the plane? Glad to see you made the best out of being stuck and they treated you nicely.

This is the session problem I mention on the RDM thread.

You have a string of bad luck. I don't think I've ever had the DTV inop. I've had problems with the 110V outlet, however.

My complaint about the DTV system is that there aren't any pure music channels on DTV. I don't bring a personal music device, and on occasion would like to listen to just music. About all there are are some of the retrospectives on VH1 and MTV - but just as often those are showing reality shows. Boring.

:) The seating was certainly more comfortable than a S340 for sure... But I have to say the AC needed a freon charge. We also had a "refreshment" break at the gas station when the driver had to stop for gas and allowed us to get out to go to the snack shop.

All in all it was better to get a bus ride than no ride :)

Does Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares have more than one story line?

I've been in enough bad restaurants to attest that single story line might be sustainable.

The Google Summer of Codette is going to Spain for an 8 day conference. They're paying for discount Y and hotels. UA doesn't fare out from ORD to the final destination, so she booked AA, which means IB codeshare, but did get AA metal LHR-ORD on return.

The big winner, of course, is grandma, who gets the Codette-ita and -ito unrestricted for the duration. Since they can't be adequately spoiled staying in Chicago, that means CHI-DEN rt, and DEN-AUS rt times three. Wonder if Google's going chip in for that .

Goes without saying that I learn of this all after the fact. No reason to think I might have any valuable input into the booking process.

Other than that, went to a BBQ at which one of the things was shooting clay pigeons. Didn't get to sleep early last night, and woke up with a headache, so the last thing I wanted to do was shoot.

So I took along my Browning BPS 16 gauge bird gun. Those who know shotguns know that 16g's are way less common now. That's largely due to ammo manufacturers phasing out a lot of production since the skeet organizations don't recognize 16's. The host was providing the ammo; I was betting that all he'd have was 12 and 20, and I was right. I took along a part of a box, of course, (like 8), and shot those, and then headed for the patio to flirt with the women and the bourbon.

Haven't used the gun in over a year. It's not as much fun to go bird hunting without Mr. Dog, but I'll say this to anyone thinking about a shotgun for pheasants, ducks, wabbits, or even doves: consider a 16 gauge. A pound lighter and more fluid than a 12, much less kick, yet way more powerful than a 20.

Wish there was something I could do to make the pain go away..... Time will take care of that. But it's the time that's so hard to go through.
It's been more than two years since my dad passed away and I still miss him so much.:(

So, what on earth brought you to SHD?
I go to the area several times a year to visit a brewery over in Elkton.
Usually fly into BWI, IAD, or RIC depending on who's buying... BWI on our dime, IAD or RIC depending on schedule if teh customer is buying....
