if I have to end up booking the return as a one way TLV-NYC-OGG 60K award is there anyway to add that months long stopover in NYC?

iirc, there's some award option to spend some extra miles (10K maybe?) to add a stopover between the continental US & Hawaii.

Would that apply to a Middle East => Hawaii oneway award or is that just on to wholly US awards?

To me, being thousands of miles away from a HA gateway city, is in HH. Especially since I value hotel points more than airline miles in certain situations, and airline miles are much easier for me to come by than hotel points...I vote for the conversion to HH....especially if used at a major property with high rack rates.

Of course, value is in the eye of the beholder.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but depending on availability, you should be able to book that entire trip as a RT from NYC with an open jaw in europe, and a stopover in NYC at the end en route to OGG. Should run 7500-12500 extra in J.

Ex: NYC -TLV <open jaw> ZRH-NYC <stopover> NYC-OGG.

My only question would be if an open jaw is legal between two different regions (TLV--ZRH). At this point, the biggest concern would be availability.

A roundtrip would certainly be preferable & an OJ in Europe would certainly be a viable option.

However, if I were able to book the return (TLV)-ZRH-NYC<stopover>NYC-OGG as a 60K award or a even bit more, it would be worth it as I could keep & build off of one of my my existing awards (either ZRH-NYC or more likely NYC-OGG)

Where are said good MRs?

I nabbed the PHL-SMF deal ($180, 3cpm; should have been able to routable for 2.5cpm but wasn't able to get a route to price out before the deal died) a few weeks ago but haven't since seen anything else even close to that. I'm looking for more MRs around that price range, either starting from WAS/PHL/NYC or from elsewhere if enough miles can be gotten to make positioning costs (or a positioning award) worth it...

Also, few hotels there do double doubles.
