If you're not there during peak season, lodging in Swakopmund is surprisingly affordable.

Yeah - that's the other thing. While I love to travel, wherever I live I want to be as involved in community things as I can (boarding school kind of counts, in that I spend a lot of time and energy doing it, but I do sometimes still feel badly that I don't do more outside these halls). I want to roam, but I also want to have things/people that tie me to the current base, even if it's a temporary one.

True. I can't believe it's almost four years now that I've lived in this place. Crazy.

The other issue, of course, is that tjtenor4 is very keen on building his own house. Not only do I have no interest in investing the time and attention to doing so, but it also comes with the implication of a great deal more permanence than I'm currently comfortable with - also, okay, I grew up in an old city, surrounded by lovely old houses (Phudnik can testify that this is a special place, architecturally) and therefore I'm quite biased. :D

Nah, I've always been kinda rootless myself, but when I remarried, I settled down in SFO (well, not in the *airport*), and I'm perfectly happy here. It's a bit far from the Caribbean and Europe for my taste, but I really haven't done a lot of flying to Asia, so that's closer than most places.

Some people need to calm down about the PIN and phone agent thing. Geez, it's no difficult than a sUA phone agent this morning asking me for my Mileage Plus password to confirm my identity before processing a transaction. I just don't get the paranoia over something that's not really a big change in procedure.

Just about time for an early breakfast in the Hyatt lounge. 6:33 am here in SIN. Managed to get a decent 8hrs of sleep last night.

I am finally going to start attacking what I hope is the LAST batch of applicant audio/video supplements for this year. Maybe this means it's time to switch from coffee to moar (I do have to finish the bottle of wine I opened last night to use for cooking)...

I really have no idea where this week at home went. It's almost 6:00 PM on Friday, and I still have a load of work to do this weekend that didn't get done during the week.

Oh, yeah. One of my clients went into self-destruction mode this week. That's where my time went.

I may now have to start doing MRs just to pick up my freakin' prescriptions! oyyyy

Last week, I tried to refill my blood pressure meds (NYS Rx) while down in FL but CVS couldn't reach my NYC Dr before I had to fly out. Luckily, National Harbor, MD had a CVS, so I could finally retrieve them there.

Now, I may have to schlep back to FL just to fill another one!

Turns out that my home (NYC) CVS can't refill my headache Rx (a controlled Rx written in NYS but this time initially dispensed in FL) nor can they transfer it (though that's probably more hassle than it worth)

As if I didn't already need those headache meds, all the various state's crazyass patchwork of controlled substance laws. nonsense is giving me new one! ::sheesh:: Makes me wanna just find a schoolyard & buy whatever the kids are selling.

So long as the prices of grass finished beef and red wine are within my means the rest is of only moderate interest.

I got the same thing for each of my Westin National Harbor stays.

While each stay was rife with screwups I'm curious which ones prompted the points?

Must say for all that went wrong, the staff was pleasant & quick to fix problems.

Also, they make the best Starbucks coffee I've had in awhile & I am not a SB fan.

:D Does it at all matter when you were paying, what was it, $25/night for the room? Do you care whether there is any service at all at that price?

I saw this earlier and it slipped my mind to reply.

Have you ever considered feeding a little raw to maintain the teeth? I use chicken necks, which are nearly as cheap as canned food. Google "raw chicken necks dog teeth" and read some opinions. For me, it works wonderfully, and the dogs love them.

I'm a tad surprised that this dog needed so many teeth removed. Apparently doxies are prone to it but hell, my 10 year old dog wasnt even this bad off. Original bill was supposed to be $140.

No sure how viable the raw thing is but I suspect some change of food is in order.

It is indeed true, though the part where I grew up looked more like this. The place where we live now is very similar, which I suppose is why I feel so comfortable here. We did move around quite a bit before we got here, though.

Not really, 'cause if it mattered, I'd ask.

Still doesn't stop me from being curious! ;)

Dreary day here in NYC but it was considerably brightened by an impromptu lunch stop at Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop where I enjoyed a proper tuna melt. :)

I've heard that there are conversations going on at various levels to try to make things better but at this point I don't believe anything conclusive has happened. I know that AA has pretty much been a bunch of schmucks about this but it is hard to know what is going on in too much detail from where I'm sitting.

Wish you were joining in on Tuesday's MR to PDX... 'cause then we might just put that plan into action ;)

AA should try harder to alienate customers. They're doing just fine.

It only took the USPS four days to deliver the mail that was held while we were away.
