Sofitel SO is coming to town in the first quarter 2012. Sofitel So Bangkok is created by five interior decorators including signature Haute Couture fashion designer Christian Lacroix, who will introduce French elegance in the decor of the hotel lobby and stylish objects in the guestrooms. This new and completely different hotel, located at Sathorn Road overlooking Lumpini Park, with its 238 rooms, offers an original guest experience presented in a novel environmental concept based on the four elements: water, earth, wood and metal.

Best Western has signed its second Best Western Plus hotel in Bangkok. Located in the lower Sathorn area, the Grand Howard Hotel brings the total Best Western portfolio in the city to five. The Grand Howard Hotel will be part of the 'Best Western Plus' Collection, which is Best Western's recently launched upscale brand.

In addition to its four properties in Bangkok (Ramada Encore Suk 10, Ramada Suites Suk 12, Ramada D MA, Ramada Plaza Menam Riverside), Ramada is embarking on a very strange project at the Asok intersection. Although a high-rise, this 37-story building is very slim and has a small footprint, maybe 6-7 rooms per each floor! Ramada Bangkok Sukhumvit is located at the junction between Sukhumvit Road and Soi 23, 30 meters from the Asok BTS sky train station. Amenities will include a full-service restaurant, two signature bars, an executive lounge, fitness center, business center and swimming pool. The property is expected to open in the first quarter of 2012.

I am still able to find good 5 stars here for less than $100, one of the few cities where that is still possible.

Kal-thanks for posting about the new Ren. I was wondering what that building was! Excellent location. Looks to me like something is going up at Ekkimai (across the street from the medical centre) at S 42- no idea what however.
