No experience with the Sofitel So or Krabi, but I was just at Sofitel Sukhumvit over the weekend. Quite a nice hotel overall and good staff. Good comfortable rooms and beds, but no real "wow" factor to the room - in fact when I posted a pic on my facebook, a friend commented that it's quite similar to the Grand Millenium (but I think the GM rooms are nicer...) Was not able to get an upgrade even with platinum status as the club rooms were full, but was given club access, which was nice. Location wise, it's as good as any out there in Bkk - almost midway between Nana and Asoke BTS so a short walk either way. Lobby view towards reception desk Luxury room View from the bathroom View of the Pool from my 12th floor room
Nice link ... thank you for sharing! Agreed, also, while the Sofitel So is certainly upscale especially this one in Bangkok which touts its design features that are inspired by the Five Elements; Water, Earth, Wood, Metal and Fire, the Sofitel as a brand is more luxurious between the two: http://www.accor.com/en/brands/brand-portfolio.html
Thank you for sharing the link to photos ... what were the benefits at the Club for Plats? breakfast? Happy hour? laundry? In the current 40% off promo this Suhkumvit Sofitel is going for less than $100 per night which is a great deal IMO.
Sorry about the hiccup....figuring out how to link and attach pics here again Club breakfast area Hot snacks at tea time
IIRC Club offers 1) Breakfast, which can be taken at the club on the 31st floor, or the normal restaurant on the 2nd. Club floor is nice and quiet, and the cold selection is similar, but there wasn't a hot egg station which the restaurant had, although I'm sure, if you asked for it they would have made in at the back, or brought some up... 2) Tea Time snacks and drinks in the late afternoon 3) Happy hour lounge with drinks etc in the early evening 4) I believe complimentary 2 pieces of laundry? didn't pay attention to this Wifi was free, but I think it's free for all - I didn't have to log in although I was told the user id and password... Any other questions - shoot....I will be there again next week so can find out
Great! ... thanks HLC ... please do start a new master thread with your experiences about this property including the Plat. treatments at this branch: Accor | Le Club Accorhotels

I booked a few nights at the HIX Siam (and the IC Kuala Lumpur) as I might be in the region due to cheap flights from RGN Any thoughts on how these other properties (and the CROWNE PLAZA HOTEL DANANG) would be for a single traveller?

Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 from THB 1,811 nett. http://tinyurl.com/6rjftug Ps I'm Caide! Long time lurker! A big hello to all the regulars out there I had a fantastic stay at the Aloft Bangkok in April on an award stay. Really exceeded my expectations and some of the best hospitality I've ever received at a hotel in Bangkok. (I've stayed at such offerings including Hansar, Four Points, Pullman King Power, Park Plaza Asoke and Viva Garden by Bliston)
Hello Caide and welcome to MilePoint! We do have the following threads if you care to post a hotel stay review or comments: - Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok, Sukhumvit 15 - Master Thread - aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 - Master Thread It seems that you have stayed at some great properties in Bangkok ... keep up the good posts!
yes its a nice hotel, but you're right not a great rate. now when they had the $85 rate a while ago that was a deal!
Agreed, but you getting a guaranteed suite as all rooms are suites plus the rate above is for Tower Club room which includes breakfast, tea time, happy hour, and other benefits. Can't wait for the $85 rate to come back ... but there are many bargains to be had in Bangkok nowadays.
The property looks awesome ... but there seems to be reported shoddy work after all these years of construction: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30170308@N07/with/7299465286/
Yea, a review in the Accor Branch will be most welcomed You have some awesome shots in your Flickr account HLC ... here is a treat for the rest of us of the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit courtesy of HLC:
