http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/news/thanks-huge-movie-screen-worlds-best-airport-just-202234614.html Bored of waiting around at airports? How about catching a 3D movie, on a screen that's as big as the plane you're about to board? Later this year, that'll become a possibility, with Hong Kong International Airport set to become the first airport in the world to offer weary travellers a chance to rest in front of an IMAX cinema screen. The screen, set to open within the next few months, will allow travelers to watch movies in a traditional IMAX theater, which offers an 'immersive' cinema experience because of the height of the screen and proximity to the audience. According to the airport, the new screen will open in Terminal 2 and will be able to accommodate 358 audience members, watching either 2D or 3D films. http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/news/thanks-huge-movie-screen-worlds-best-airport-just-202234614.html
Interesting, but I have to disagree with your title, personally I think SIN is head and shoulders above Hong Kong ESP after my last experience waiting for over one hour to go through security AS A TRANSIT PASSENGER with no premium preference given. And I'll take the small cinema with PLUSH seats and loads do leg room at Changi any day Not to mention sleep areas and lots of free extras to make the traveler comfortable.

I've never been to Hong Kong airport, but I was really impressed by the Singapore Changi Airport. Much more better than any other airport i've seen. Nevertheless, the idea of having a cinema in the airport seems to be a logical one. I don't know why others did not think about this before.
I know that SIN is revered here- however I have waited a few times an hour to get through passport control- and even arriving in paid F there is no escort/premium line- after an overnight flight this is a major disappointment.
Well, let's see. Anything in a US airport costs something like 4x the normal price, right? I guess they can't figure out how to justify $40-60 for someone to go see a movie.
Actually I have to stand up for my airport here. It seems as if it is not talked about as much as Hong Kong or Changi (which I agree are both amazing airports), but it is still the best airport in the world! GO INCHEON KOREA! (ICN) http://www.worldairportawards.com/Awards_2012/Airport2012.htm
I agree and do think that ICN is an excellent airport. The problem will all the awards- as with hotels- is that the people voting may or may not ever have been to the place in question- and they vote on what they "remember" i.e. have heard over many years. For example, all the people who tell me what an excellent airport Schipol is have had exactly Zero schengen-non Schegen connections in the last ten years, nor have they ever experienced the 15 minute taxi to/from the Polderban.
So all of these people fly within Europe only, or not at all through Schipol? I don't think it's all reputation. Would you rather connect at CDG or AMS?
Darn, I was hoping this would be SIN. Have a 6-hour stopover (2am - 8am) later this week, and the *G lounge is pretty pathetic
Agreed! Easier connections, plus the KLM lounges are pretty nice! Though like someone above noted, I've only done Schengen-Schengen and Non-Schengen to Schengen transfers, not Sch-Non Sch.
