Hi friends! At the Admiral's Club in AUS. Let's hope I make it to JFK through DFW. Looks like severe thunderstorms forecasted for when I'll get there!

Did you connected with JY1024, Chiffy? It's not right to have Kobe beef burger without your friend/s. ;)

I may need a guide dog when visiting Piccadilly since it's complicated enough to confuse Gerald. :p

It doesn't sound too good a working week for you, adl73x. Your handsome pet Gerald paid you one too many visit. :( Good to know that your strategy worked this time.

For those who have Gerald as uninvited house guest, such as TwinPat, Twinsc801, adl73x (& some other loungemates suffering in the dark), have you ever tried Chamomile tea? I heard Chamomile tea can work wonder on migraines, among other health benefits.

Is Tai Chi big in Dover too? The guy seems quite good at Tai Chi Chuan! :D

But one must perform Qinggong (one form of Chinese martial art that you see plenty in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) to get on that thingy in Dover before the session for Tai Chi Chuan! :D:D

Thank you lin821, I have indeed tried chamomile tea. I have also tried "not eating chocolate" which although extreme, is irritatingly effective.

Anyway, pleased to say that Gerald remains lost on this auspicious day, and that I'd be delighted to guide you through Piccadilly any time that suits you :)

    Thank you, G_G & adl73x!

We did have some thunderstorm this afternoon to cool down the TPE heat. It has been a very hot week! 38+°C all week long! But my mini rose gave me 3 flowers and 3 more tiny buds this week! I also found out my mini roses are not red. :)

I went to the TPE Holiday Flower Market today and got some more plants to celebrate a beginning of another new year. One fatty boy merchant said to me that I was hopeless with green fingers when I told him I killed a jade plant. That of course didn't defeat me. I got myself a Sweet Olive or Fragrant Olive (桂花: I love the scent), another jade plant, (and an aloe) & a Taiwan native variety of pachouli or Variegated Mexican Mint (鑲邊左手香: the one I got is more yellow-ish not as green as the photo)

My small balcony is so full of life this evening. Hope they all have a happy & long life with me!

Best Buy B&M stores are now offering fire sale pricing on the TouchPads...

HP TOUCHPAD CLEARANCE AND RETURN POLICY

Due to HP's decision to discontinue its TouchPad product, Best Buy® will now provide clearance pricing for all TouchPad 16GB and 32GB models (SKUs 2842056, 2842092) regardless of previously advertised prices or promotions.

Best Buy will not accept customer returns or exchanges on clearance-priced TouchPads bought through any Best Buy channel.

Customers purchasing a TouchPad at clearance pricing will have a 1-year manufacturer's warranty, fulfilled directly through HP, not Best Buy.

Customers who purchased the 16GB or 32GB TouchPad after June 19 may come into the store to get either a full refund or a refund of the difference between the price they paid and the clearance price.

Quantities are strictly limited. Limit 1 per customer. Best Buy cannot guarantee availability of inventory at this pricing at any particular Best Buy location or channel.

I called HP in the UK a couple of hours ago: they confirmed they expected the discount prices to be announced between 9am and 10am Monday 22/08/2011 in the UK.

In the meantime I have scouted out stock levels at local stores and made a deal with the manager and several employees at one chain to keep one for me - the rest of the stock was apportioned to the manager and a couple of staff ;) There is a non-zero chance that they will not honour that arrangement, so I have a back up plan.

All may come to nought, but I'm treating it with all the serendipitous nonchalance of a mistake fare.

I really will miss HP/Compaq computers. After poor experiences with Dell, Gateway, Packard-Bell, and Micron, we have used Compaq exclusively for about five years now. Best computer we ever had? Don't laugh; an E-machine tower that ran continuously for 4 years, we replaced the power supply, used it for another year, then gave it to an employee that ran it for three more years! By the time they retired it, it was a true antique with it's 133mhz processor.

I did finally give up on HP printers due to ink cost and switched to Cannon about 2 years ago.

If I could scrounge up the $150, I'd buy one of these tablets in a heartbeat.

The heart of our home network and my main workstation is a Compaq machine I bought 5 years ago. I've added RAM, installed linux and an extra hard drive, but it has kept running and upgrading flawlessly since I bought it.

I will miss HP hardware - I hope it goes (not free) to a good home. Lenovo have been fantastic with the legacy of IBM - I hope HP can likewise find a suitor and saviour.

Good for him and his SO! :) I know I should thank him for driving to explore Scotland 5 years ago. :) I should thank him for the trip to southern part of India and a part of SriLanka, places where I would not go. He is a man of adventure.
