They are absolutely eligible for compensation. For the two people in F, they should request downgrade comp/a refund in the difference between the F and Y fare.

In the letter, I'd point out the facts that you posted. I can check expert flyer to confirm that it was an MX cancellation, which is also something that should be included in the letter.

If you find that UA isn't responding, etc, I'm sure any of us that are 1K would be happy to get you connected to the 1K Customer Relations desk. They're VERY helpful, and always make things right.

I thought they should be due something. I'll work on the letters tonight... separate letters for the Y pax and the F pax. I'd appreciate if you'd check Expert Flyer and see what the issue with the plane was.

And the Y pax should be due something, yes?

I think I am going to have them write a letter to Delta too about the lack of A/C on the substituted flight!

Don't you think a letter is better than a phone call?

PS Their luggage didn't make it either and United and Delta can't find it at this point. The F pax luggage did make it.

Y pax are definitely due something, too. My guess is that UA will toss a couple e-certs towards them.

All pax should request original routing credit on UA, and also get mileage credit on DL.

I would normally agree that a letter is good. However, it tally takes more than one letter or email these days to get something other than a scripted response.

I'll start with the letter and then if nothing gets done... I'll let you give them a call for me/them. :)

I'd actually rather fly on Garuda than any other Indonesian airlines. Though if I were to fly, say from Jakarta to Bali, I'd probably do it via HKG on CX :D

Well, that flying bit may not happen as soon as scheduled...my replacement's fiancee is in the hospital...waiting to hear when she's released and my replacement departs LHR... Fortunately, with Afghanistan as the reason, DL is willing to be flexible moving my MANY tickets around once I have details!

Good MAE everyone! Just confirmed myself for the SFO Ops Tour and the SFO Dinner this Sunday. Was able to confirm after another trip got postponed. Hope to see some of you there this weekend. :)

Good m/a/e all. Just dropped eldest 73x off at T3 for her flight home LHR-DXB_PER. That was a tiring week - including the weekend in the Hilton BHX - no upgrade, miles mistakenly went 1000 to OZ instead of 4000 to BD, but great lounge service. Also went to EDI Monday on BD where miles mistakenly went to BA 500 and not BD 625. It has been a poor weekend for maximising the miles, but we just won a contract near GLA so I see some miles coming my way in short haul increments. :)

    Happy travels all.

Well, interestingly enough, she basically just said she was sorry and she would notify the crew. WTH? As if the crew didn't already know that they flew all the way from Denver to Witchita for refueling and then on to Atlanta with no AC the whole way. #fail for Delta Assist
