I do not know milaap directly but several of my Singapore contacts do know them. They have been supported by lots of Singapore-based people notable the eleemosynary arm of DBS (Development Bank of Singapore) one of the largest banks there. My sense is that they are quite reputable, but the money invested, as misman notes, is a three-year commitment.

Hawaiian are launching a service between Honolulu and Brisbane in November. I can do coach return for around $1000 and I'd love to be on an inaugural flight. Am tempted to lock it in so at my job interview on Wednesday if they ask about holidays I can mention this.

In Oz we get a minimum of four weeks annual leave so I will have accrued enough by then.

and I had to work almost 20-years to get four weeks vacation (plus illness days.)

You have an interview on Wednesday? Good going! How's the temp job going?

Three weeks of temp work has turned into two and a bit weeks. We finished the work alot quicker than they thought we would. I'm one of the fortunate ones who will be back on Monday and Tuesday.

Yes, I have an interview on Wednesday. It's at a law firm in the city. Low pay but would easily cover my half of the mortgage. The state government fired quite a few thousand temp staff recently so now is not the time to be picky.

When you transfer your repayments to your paypal account and then transfer the funds to your bank account, does paypal charge a fee?
    If so, how much?
    thanks

There's no fee on the transfers back to a Paypal personal account (don't know about business) but even with my validated account, there's a limit of $500 per month for sending from Paypal to a bank account. When Kiva is one of multiple sources, this cap can be reached rather easily.

You can get Paypal to lift that amount above $500. I did it a while back and is not too hard to get done.

    Sooo... according to https://www.kiva.org/withdraw

PayPal processes all of Kiva's financial transactions, so it is necessary to withdraw funds into a PayPal account. Kiva cannot send you a personal check or deposit the funds into a bank account.

So if I ever wanted to cash out more than $500, I'd have to do it over the course of multiple months?

That is a personal limit not in place for business accounts. And no fees for bank transfer on business either.

No, because PayPal lifts the limit easily. I have transferred as much as $130,000 with PayPal in a single order, although they're prone to make several individual transactions to move the actual money. I have not been charged fees.

Was the transfer into a USA bank? Mine would go into Canadian account.

My large ones were to US banks. I suggest called the PayPal people for clarification. At one time I understood they charged no fees related to Kiva transactions, including repayments. That may not still be the policy, I do not know.

If your account is in most (all?) non-USD currency then paypal charges fees to transfer. Also if the transfer is a small amount there is a flat fee.
