The unoffical TG Royal First /Silk/Orchid & Spa Lounges thread - no question is dumb enough !

We're departing BKK-NRT in TG F at 7:35am.... I'm a little worried about having enough time for the massage, seeing as the spa only opens at 6am. Do you think we would have time for the hour long massage, or would we have to settle for 30 minutes?
Does anyone know if we can try to put our names on the schedule at 5am when the lounge opens (or when we check in)?

Also, if I want to use the steamroom/sauna, should I pack my swim suit in my carry-on?

    Thanks!

p.s. I'm super excited about flying TG F based on what I've read here!

I believe you can request a massage at the time of check-in after reading about the FCL for quite a while. I'm in this same situation and would appreciate it if you could tell me how it went with the time "conflict". :)

Oh, I'm not flying until April. I'm just so excited about the trip that I'm already planning my time in the lounge. Ha!

But from TG check-in counters in T2, I believe one does need to take a train to get to airside after security check and immigration :)

Stop the presses! From another forum:

Previously when flying on to Hat Yai in Thai business class after we'd arrived on Thai F (usually from FRA) we've been taken to the Royal Orchid F lounge in a golf cart and got the massage. Is this no longer the case?? Majorly sucks if that is so!! We are arriving on the Thai flight from Frankfurt and have to wait 6 hours for domestic flight to Hat Yai. This was the only reason I booked TG F from FRA to BKK, so we could wait in the TG F lounge. The domestic business lounge is a zoo compared to the oasis of the F lounge and spa. Please, say it ain't so!!

Anyone do something like this recently? Can't find anything on the TG website.

    Thanks

My brother is schedule to fly: FRA-BKK TG F onward to PHN in J with a 5 hrs layover, will he have access to both FCL and spa?
    • Original Member

    cennas Gold Member

Yes to both. However, for the spa, I believe he would be entitled only to the J treatments and not the hour-long 'Touch of Thai' massage.

I think you will be fine. I had a morning flight too, but not that early, came to airport, put my name on, did the massage and was the last one to board the plane. They were actually waiting just for us. There are quite a few rooms. You can use one of their disposable underwear's to use in sauna if you want I think.

FRA-BKK- TG F then to PNH in TG Y, will I be able to use FCL in BKK?

I think yes as you have an F boarding pass.

I thought you'd like to know but I just had my flight last week.

I arrived at BKK around 5:40AM and the check-in process to the front door of the FCL was ~5-10 minutes with no one at the Priority Immigration line. I requested for a massage at 6:00AM but didn't go inside until ~6:30AM then I had my 1 hr massage. Once it was around 7:40AM we were led to a vehicle outside and driven to the plane since it was located in the apron. Plenty of time and no need to worry about the time! :) Absolutely loved TG F compared to LH F (on the A380 and new A346).

Awesome thanks for the info! I can't wait! We start our trip in two days! (but the FCL isn't until the return)!

Just out of curiosity, if arriving on TG F and departing the following morning to DPS but in C which is under 24 hrs, would I get access to FCL in BKK the next morning?

Unfortunately not as it is not same day.

We're arriving BKK on TG F connecting to DPS on TG C, and from what I understand we should be able to access the FCL. On our return, we have a 2-night stopover in BKK, with our TG F flight departing BKK around midnight. We have late check-out (4PM) at the hotel, but how early is it OK to check in on TG F? Would it be OK to arrive BKK at 6-7PM?

I would check with the hotel what they will charge you for a later checkout. At most the SPG hotels by the way you can even use points to extend your checkout (obviously at a lower rate than the whole night). I would not want to spend 6 hours in the lounge at BKK although if you want to it won't be a problem.

Thanks for replying. Late checkout included already. I think we can manage about 4-5hrs incl a visit to the Royal Orchid Spa :D

I think TG would not turn away F pax who check in a bit too early for their flight. Enjoy the experience! :)

TG allows *G to check in anytime that day for a flight. Any F pax will be graciously handled in the same manner. You could check in at 5AM (when the counters open) for a midnight flight if you so desired.... not that I recommend it.

I wonder what the odds are of getting a bag lost when checking in that early? I'm flying through BKK In TG F doing a three day stopover in BKK before continuing in F to NRT. How far in advance should I arrive at BKK to get the full experience?

Last year we arrived into BKK at 10AM on a domestic flight and didn't depart until 6PM (Int). Since our dom airport isn't a customs facility we couldn't check the bag through. So we picked it up and checked in at the Int *G counter wihtout a hitch. No problems with the bags arriving at our destination.

I'd leave a 100-minute window for the spa. You're not going to board until about 15-20 minutes before departure. That's 2 hours. Depending on meal time, I'd say 4 hours is plenty enough. I had a 12:20pm flight and got there at around 8:30am and had enough time (ate breakfast, had massage, ate lunch).
