1000% agree. I know the organizers are brewing up some surprises for us and it would suck if someone not part of the organizing party would derail the potential huge success that smd 3 will be.
I'm really excited as a virgin smd'er. Figure to go all or none and booked F for the charter and Z for europe.
I defiantly wouldn't contact anyone unless organizers think it's a good idea...unfortunately I am already in Y, so not dropping a class and using $ to buy up.
I think that you'll have that answer once we have an official launch. Several people have asked about being able to join into the DO along the way. We're hoping theres a launch tomrw (IF the DOT approves the new ppwk).
However, historically, only people booked on the charter were able to attend SMD events. One exception was last year Flyertalk Award ceremony in Houston was opened to anybody.
IIRC, FlyerTalk had nothing to do with the Frequent Travel Awards ceremony last year in Houston, nor this year in New York!
That is absolutely correct and I should of specified that. However, most of the people that had attended were part of SMD II
Definitely the year to attend for me. The travel back to my house from the Grand Hyatt in DEN is all of 9 blocks . Makes it hard to justify staying there though — even with the wonderful rate .
Ha. Right... I've seen the chaos that happens at 30,000 feet... I can only imagine what would happen...
I was not rude to Mr. Parker, but I did point out that as a former Pittsburgh-based CP, I now fly CO between my home near CLT and my job near PHX for some very good reasons. Still, he sent 3 different US veeps to talk with me after the Q & A to see if they could help with my issues, and I had to respect him for showing up to what he must have known would be a somewhat hostile crowd. Since I am kind of thinking of moving to AZ permanently, I may have to reconsider US status. Oh - this will be my third SMD.
Anyone going on the JFK-FRA flight planning to arrive at the JFK LH Lounge at Noon (opening time)? Hence, lunch at the LH lounge. Thus skipping the Andaz 11am event - which I would guess is a lunch since it was moved from 8am to 11am - but then pushes the arrival at JFK LH lounge to 2pm.
Thats exactly my plan. I'll be in NYC already visiting family, and was planning on arriving at JFK at 12-1pm area.
I wouldn't. You'll be wasting your time, the airlines' time and potentially creating ill-will towards future participation. It is a charter flight. Those do not earn miles. That you can earn at all is because a couple carriers are being generous. Don't spoil that.
Why are you thinking that Im undermining anything. You're taking my posts out of context from previous posts. Don't worry about me ruining anything.
