I have attended a few meetings at the Hilton Copenhagen Airport. It is very convenient as it is connected to the terminal by skybridge. The staff are nice and professional- and the meeting facilities are good. Unfortunately, there is not really a hotel in Copenhagen that I can say is "outstanding"- but if you need to be at the airport- the Hilton is a good choice.
OK..but does all this make it a Hilton "elite" property as per the thread header? On other hand I would say IMHO the Madrid Airport is a much nicer airport hotel (perhaps the nicest in the HH system) not connected directly to terminal.. but has stylish modern rooms and quite decent buffet breakfast provided for diamonds
From my first post: "...so please feel free to "award" this recognition to these HHonors properties where you had your most enjoyable stay and would love to return right away! ... However, I would highly appreciate if someone's vote doesn't lead to an endless discussion about the pros and cons of a single property. This should be discussed in the appropriate property specific thread [as soon as it is available]." TRAVELSIG just posted his own opinion about this property and this is absolutely like it was intended.
Only reason I questioned the poster of CPH Airport is simply because I'm heading that way and wondered what would make it a must stay for me. Really like this thread though as I'm learning about other properties I've not yet tried.
I stayed a LOOONG time ago at the Paris Hilton Charles DeGaulle. We actually were sitting on a plane at CDG when the snow started, a few hours later, they canceled the flight, thankfully the guy sitting next to me had a cell phone (this was back in the day when they were not common), he & I had talked about points/miles, and he paused while on his call and asked if I wanted to speak with the Hilton DD to force an award stay a the hotel. Boy was I thankful. I forget, does this property have a lounge? Where do Diamonds get breakfast (lounge or restaurant)?
Another vote for Hilton Prague, Excellent Customer Service and one of the nicest Executive Lounges I have experienced. sdcarver
Some of my favorites: Canada: Hilton Hotel & Suites Niagara Falls/Fallsview USA: Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront & Millenium Hilton UK: Hilton London Park Lane
One of my favorites is the CONRAD MIAMI Always get upgraded to a residence with a free huge breakfast. I have recently been upgraded to a 2 room residence, it was bigger than my NYC apartment
I would like to nominate the Hilton Budapest Castle District. The View rooms looking over the Danube with the Fisherman's Bastion in the foreground are absolutley amazing. Situated in a beautful neighborhood on a hill overlooking Pest with a 15-20 munite walk donw the hill to get to the main sites. The Lounge was excellent as well with excellent service throughout! sdcarver
Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa. The beautiful location, view and neighbourhood. The spacious seaside rooms. The sauna, pool, beach, restaurant and congress wing.
I like this property as well- and also an interesting area to stay in- however in Helsinki I think it is very hard to beat the Hotel Kamp.
My Favorites--Rome Cavalieri--despite out of Rome location, wonderful lounge and property Conrad Bali--wonderful service where everyone knows your name--great beach bales--platform cushions in a covered frame with thatched roof where you are served fruit and cold towels, fabulous lounge with wonderful large selection of drinks and nice appetizers. Conrad HongKong--had a fabulous harbor view room/suite, great lounge, central location in Hong Kong Last December, visited Millenium Hilton in Bangkok and got a terrific suite with a wonderful view. Lounge and breakfast were great too.
Hilton Niseko Village in Japan. Best ski-in/out hotel that we ever experienced. It is Category 5 Hotel and nightly rates go up to $700/night during ski season. 75 feet from the hotel entrance to the main ski lift. If you are Gold or Diamond, you are treated incredibly well, Japanese hotels value Hilton status. JFK-NRT-CTS + 2 1/2 hour bus ride all in under 24 hours for 50,000 AA miles in coach. 4,500ft peak, amazing ski conditions, $50/day lift tickets. Think about it! Cheers, PedroNY
A couple data points for Hilton ADT Paris and Hilton Park Lane London - both not worth the cost and/or points. I know this is a thread for top elite Hiltons but my recent experience in the flagships in their respective countries was less than stellar and should be noted. Amongst other things, a crappy room at ADT - although after an extended whining session, we were moved [note this was the middle of Jan and the hotel was empty]. And at the Park Lane again a crappy room in an empty hotel and poor service. IMO so far with Hilton, it's the just below the so-called elite hotels where I have received the best service and had better stays, eg, Hilton IST and as mentioned above Hilton Munich City
On Park Lane in general, with the exception of the Four Seasons, crappy room and poor service is the norm unless you are a VVIP and splash out for a suite. Even the Four Seasons has very small rooms unless you go up a couple of categories (and it was just rennovated). I do like the Hilton Munich City, however IST is nothing I am in a hurry to return to- the last time I stayed there I checked out early and moved to the Swissotel.
Conrad in BKK, good location, efficient staff, good lounge, upgrade as HH Gold, free ABF and Internet and little toys in the room.
What actually happened at the Hilton Istanbul that made you check out after one night and moved to the Swissotel and was the Swissotel better in every respect against the Hilton IST?
I had an absolute crap room overlooking an airshaft and smelled very strongly of smoke. Staff completely indifferent. Very poor service. Swissotel is a 5 star property in Instanbul with amazing views. Yes- better in every way.
We had a very nice stay recently at the Conrad Brussels. Rooms were fairly large for European hotels, and the breakfast buffet was very nice. Staff was friendly and properly attentive.
