Just wanted to give the community a review on the tsa pre check @ ord. Amazing. Pretty much sums it up. 2 mins from checkpoint to grabbing bags off belt.. So stoked got time back to my life from long security lines.. Only downside is one line so we will see how that handles around holidays..
when did it open up? where is it located? how do you use it? I do have my Global Entry # in my profile. Yes. I'm excited!
Ok so I just answered most of my questions. I opened March 22 coordinating with the launch of TSA PreCheck at DCA It's in Lane 8 at T3 AA check-in Maybe some questions , experiences from others using PreCheck. I just added my Global Entry Pass ID CBP # into my AAdvantage profile. Can I use it tomorrow by just showing my boarding pass and Global Entry card?
Global entry card wont do you any good. Security doesn't care about that. You need to make sure you have the pre check set up in your profile or your flights don't use this program.. Just follow the signs for the lane and you are all set..
So the only step to have your profile setup is to put your Global Entry Pass ID in your account info? How quickly will it work? Should it work at my next check-in tomorrow if I added it today?
No idea how fast it works, but it is linked to your FF num and thus the barcode on your boarding pass. If you have it, "LLL" will show up when they scan your boarding pass on the TSA readout after (or below?) your name and you will be directed to the pre-check lane. It is absolutely wonderful. As others have mentioned, the question is how fast will this scale and how well will it scale? Right now there is almost never anyone in that lane, so you can be through security in literally seconds.
It worked this afternoon for my flight at 6:15p. When the BP checker scanned my pass I was directed down the PreCheck line. What an amazing experience. Closest thing to pre 9/11 flying. I was through security in about 90 seconds.
I used this last Friday at ORD and it was as good as everyone says. I was through security in two minutes.
I 'm finally ready to admit this ... I am envious of those with TSA PreCheck! As I stood in line today, I saw five folks use the pre-check lane and pretty much walk right through before I even got to the nude-o-scope. I even saw one guy go through it while his wife and son had to go through the normal first-class lane. From what I understand, in order to receive an invite from AA, one needs to be EXP, or I need to buy Global Entry. Unfortunately, I don't travel internationally often enough to make Global Entry worth the investment.
I'm in the same boat as you. I was invited but didn't register because ORD wasn't functioning when I was invited. Now I regret not responding.
I too was invited, but as a "Platinum" -- without the "Executive" part. But like David, I too passed it by -- the first airports it was in were of little or no use to me. Now that Dallas/FtW, Los Angeles and Honolulu are either with it or soon to be, I regret not doing so. I have no idea where I put the invitation, or, even if I could find it, whether they'd still honor it for me.
OK, based on the date you gave me, I just went back in my e-mail archive and found the invitation. Expired 23 Sept. Sniff
Kind of surprised there was an expiration on that invitation. I checked back at my invitation and saw it was dated Oct 28, didn't see an expiration. I didn't sign up on that link until after the One World MegaDO in Jan. (I am just a lowly Platinum at the moment.) Perhaps you can try clicking on the invitation link again anyways?
Call the advantage desk and tell them you want to be put on the program. I never got the invite and I'm plt. I called and asked to be out into the program and they did it ASAP next day I was breezing down the beltway.
So I called the AAdvantage Desk, and because I lost PLT and am now GLD with the new membership year, they cannot offer the invite to me. I'll take all the pity you'd like to give me
Yeah, I had tried that night too. But NOW, check your e-mail, this morning - Saturday!!! Look what this "Platinum" dude just got! Ya don't suppose AA is monitoring these forums, d'ya! Ha! (Yes, I know they do, but I still am not sure this isn't a coincidence. Anyway, guess who will sign up this time!) *** <Received 31 March 12, 9:05 AM CDT> Dear <Kansaskeith> Due to your status in the AAdvantage® program, we are pleased to offer you a special opportunity to participate in the TSA PreCheck pilot program.1 Travelers who participate may have access to expedited security lanes2 and no longer be required to remove: • Shoes, belt or jacket • Laptops for separate screening • Liquids in 3-1-1 compliant bags from carry-on luggage
OK, just opted in. My AAdvantage profile now lists me as a "Known Passenger" Took me two tries, about a minute apart, to get it done (first time it said feature currently not available - try again later). But a minute later, it was painless.
When I landed at SFO today I got the same e-mail and I'm currently a Platinium. Just logged in and registered. Wonder if the emails are going out batches.
