Hello everyone! Call me newb and overwhelmed. I've pretty much gotten this whole thing down EXCEPT mileage runs! I'm out of CLT so it makes sense for me to go with USAir to try and get my first elite status. Especially with Trial Preferred and about 10k miles of business travel in August (something I normally don't get). While I have TP, I figure I might as well try and max out and shoot for CP or at least P with some mileage runs. Unfortunately I can't seem to find anything good out of CLT. I am seeing lots of talk about MR to SJU. I just found fares for $190 and $208 all-in on USair from NYC to SJU on FareCompare. I looked the fare up on Expert flyer and got this: Code: Search: Departing NYC on 08/10/12 for SJU Fare basis code EBZA1SXX Flying US Routing code 251 EBZA1SXX 64.00 128.00 US ROUTE:0251 SPECIFIED ROUTE: 0251 TRAVEL MUST NOT BE NONSTOP. I'm pretty lost here and I think I am just missing one crucial piece. Waiting for my lightbulb to click on!!! Thanks! Phil
Welcome to Milepoint! I've recently gotten a subscription to EF and am in the process of learning how to use it effectively. However, I'm sure you'll get an answer soon. There are many EF experts in these threads...
To find what you're looking for I'd skip EF and head straight to ITA (http://matrix.itasoftware.com). Put in NYC and SJU and choose the flexible dates option. Set 0-1 night (assuming that's what you're willing to do) and see what it comes back with. If you want to force US metal then click the advanced routing codes option and put US+ in those two boxes.
I wrote this post as advice for Phil, but feel free to add to it or disagree with it so he can make the best of his runs: http://www.heelsfirsttravel.com/2012/06/12/making-the-most-of-a-us-airways-trial/
