I bet it will come as a surprise to many of my readers that I wasn’t one of the early adopters of Global Entry, the expedited customs and immigration program (that also comes with TSA PreCheck). But the civil libertarian in me was initially really bothered by the program, and I just...

I converted nexus to GE just last week at the preclearance point in YYZ.
What is the TSA precheck? They did not explain that to me.

There will be a special line at the airports denoted by the green check where, if your boarding pass gets three beeps, you don't get the complimentary nude-o-scope or patdown, you wear your shoes, you don't take things out of bags.

The key is to put in trusted traveler information (the number you got) for every possible airline you get boarding passes from. I don't know if AC participates in that yet, though (there is usually a space on your profile or where you buy tickets asking for Trusted Traveler information if an airline participates).

AC has my Nexus number. I don't know if there is a different GE number as one was not given to me when I converted from Nexus.
Leaving from most airports in canada to the US Nexus works as a sort of preclearance. I'm not sure where AC is at with that program for flights ex US airports. But, the fact they code share with UA on every flight should make AC passengers eligible for the GE program.
