Stayed there for a week last August, right after peak season on a C&P + special rate. Checked in at 11pm after spending 30 minutes on the stand waiting for the airport staff to extend the jetbrige The check in lady was charming, when I said I was going to hit the town with some locals and that I was under 21, she said "Whatever happens in Honolulu stays in Honolulu yeah?" Got an upgrade from the tower to the Historic Wing. The Historic Wing is beautiful, and is always lively. Would be really nice if they had some bottled water though...hot Honolulu days need water My room was close to the elevator and on the second floor but it was quiet(for facing Waikiki!). I've seen bigger kiddie pools than the one in this hotel, but you can choose to go to another *wood properties' pool(ie:the RH). The banyan tree is a nice "touch" to the courtyard. Overall, C&P and you're all set! I like the Moana over the RH only cause the Historic Wing is nice and cozy.
I had thought RH and the Sheraton Waikiki allowed the sharing of pools, but that the Moana did not participate in this. Has this changed from my last stay in early 2010?? Would be nice to hear that it did
The people over at the RH didn't mind me using the pool when I was staying at the Moana...might've been a one time thing.
Well......there is the official policy and then the unofficial policy We were lucky enough to stay here and be upgraded to a junior suite on the 5th floor of the historic wing facing over the banyan tree.....in December...
Thanks so much for posting.. brings back so many fine memories.. MS is still one of my favs in Oahu.. And I did think the entire Shearton Hawaii group owned 'em all, & you could swim in all the various pools.. shop.. etc. I recall dining at the various restaurants and charging 'em to my room as well.. never had any problem.. Perhaps I was just lucky.. Or perhaps the rules have changed? Makes me want to return.. it's been too long.. Thanks again
The Royal Hawaiian's pool is very small unless you are talking about the pool at the Sheraton Waikiki... That one is very nice
The RH page explicitly says you can use both its pool and the SW pool http://www.royal-hawaiian.com/resort/pool-beach-services/ This ability is specifically lacking on the Westin page for the Moana http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/property/features/index.html?propertyID=374 So...if you do use the other's pool...be smart about it
