Thanks, Gargoyle. I've been noticing that the threshold points get farther and father between as time goes on. I'm looking for where the next one is before I start to suffer points-withdrawal. Is there a MP equivalent of a mileage run?
Also entering the MegaDo-"take Randy's seat" contest/thread. Each entry is a post, and since you get points for every so-many posts. . . .
The MegaDo thread is the huge mileage run, since pretty much anything goes (text wise) and you don't have to follow the plot line or pay attention. In the social threads there are plot lines (multiple overlapping weaving plot lines, but plot lines nonetheless) so it helps to pay attention. As a result, you're more likely to get "liked" in the lounge threads, since people actually read what you write.
and another batch of points came through today. Don't know if it is related to 7500 likes for 3000 posts.
That's the 7500 likes bonus, it's a big one. Check your numbers, you got the little bonus for 3000 posts on Monday.
From looking at profiles of those more "liked" and prolific than myself, it appears that Al stops counting likes at 10K at the moment.
If anyone is looking for a new place to post increase that post/like count, may I introduce you to the new Kiva Lounge Thread. You don't need to be a Kiva member to post.
Well, there does seem to be a status waiting period-- my alerts tell me I'm now Silver, but everything else tells me I'm still just active. Maybe it's to make sure don't become drunk with power when I claim my Silver status?
The real truth of the matter is that Tim got so freaked out when he saw The Pig that he misprogrammed half of Milepoint.
While I am broadening the subject here from the lag in being "alerted" as "Silver" to actually getting it, it does strike me that the whole status and points area of Milepoint is one of its less salient features. The unpredictability of how many points for whatever milestone (unless you go in and click on another's point history and try to extrapolate from that), the undocumented relationships between seniority as a member, points, and status, etc., all make me think that Mr. Al Gorhythm has made things far too murky. It reminds me of the opening days a couple decades ago of "AAdvantage Gold" and the unpublished, sliding scale of qualifications market by market. American Airlines, thankfully, got past that. Hopefully Milepoint can do the same, but, in its case, stay financially solvent in the process I guess others, like United with its "Global Services," have brought the murkiness back a little, but in such limited, top-end use that I don't really worry about it. p.s. - when I was made milepoint "Silver" I personally didn't notice any lag between the alert and the showing of status online.
