What kind of items, if any, might you like to own with a MilePoint logo on them? Would you be interested in uploading your own graphics to print on items for events and such? A little background: We aren't really in the merchandising business and so it is likely we won't stock product, but rather, if we open a MilePoint store, will choose a partner that offers product on demand - something like CafePress. If there is enough interest, we will look around and try to find a partner that offers high quality items, and the prices will likely reflect that. What do you think?
There are some of us here that are in the merchandising business who may be able to help out. I know I'd be happy to help out without making money off of my fellow MilesPointers and am sure there are others on here that have expertise in areas beyond my scope.
I'd personally like to see shirts with the slogan "If idiots could fly, this place would be an airport" - Great for wearing through security on mileage runs. +1 for thongs, although not as fun now that TSA is restricting patdowns.
+1 Bag tags. In different colors and maybe a small percentage of the funds could go to a well know charity. Example: Red Tag : Aids or heart disease Pink Tag: Breast Cancer Green Tag: Environment, Wildlife Yellow Tag: Livestrong There are many others. Blue tag : TSA... I have been padded down tag! (Blue because TSA wear the color)
Bag tags - but I see those are a perk of the various status levels being planned. Be nice to have a Silver/Gold/Platinum one for the stars, and perhaps a green one for the rest. I have met loads of people in lounges, on planes and at gates with the old FT ones! In addition, I have always thought some sort of business card we could buy and slip in to inflight magazines as a sort of gorilla campaign. I find Flight Attendants know FT, and so something we could give them to remember MP would be great - I'd be happy to pay for something to give away with the branding! A single chocolate in a box with MP on perhaps? And of course Polo shirts - still have all mine!
Would it be too much trouble to put screen name / real name on bag tags? This might help if someone left property behind somewhere. Now that I think more about it, would mini tags be helpful for small items which people tend to leave in their seat area?
I agree with the consensus of bag tags! I'm not sure about tags of different colors, though... maybe start with 1 color so we're all looking for the same thing at the airports, but if they/we are successful enough, then multiple colors could be brought out.
