He is a quick quiz to identify your accent ('merican accents). Give it a shot and let us know your results. My results: "You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for." Since I grew up in the Windy City, it read me correctly.
I wanted to try the quiz but the "youthink" site is down currently. I wonder if I could pass the quiz as an Aussie and whether i'd get a "from down south' result?
I hit a stretch where the site wasn't loading earlier today, then it came back up after 5 minutes. They must be having server drawl.
I received the Northern Accent, too. It's too bad they don't break it down further because we Chicagoans definitely have an accent of our own.
Northeastern: "This could either mean an r-less NYC or Providence accent or one from Jersey which doesn't sound the same. Just because you got this result doesn't mean you don`t pronounce R's.(People in Jersey don`t call their state "Joisey" in real life)."
Coming from Hillbillyland and settling in the Deep South, darlin; that little ole test didn't have any trouble identifying my accent as Southern. Still, I'm inclined to think that my American accent is somewhat subject to change at any moment depending on how much I may have been drinkin , or how amorous I may be afeeling.
boring: Which American accent do you have? Neutral You`re not Northern, Southern, or Western, you`re just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don`t really have a local identity. You might be from the region in that map, which is defined by this kind of accent, but you could easily not be. Or maybe you just moved around a lot growing up.
I'm told I don't really have an accent which may be from growing up as an Army brat and moving every couple/few years (including MA, TX, GA, Germany, PA and eventually NJ) until I was a teenager. I definitely don't have the Philly/South Jersey accent that I'm surrounded by these days.

I've lots of places in the US so this doesn't surprise me. But people can instantly pick me for a North-easterner/New Yorker when I say "long" or "dog"
I don't have any accent. Ha,ha, and the quiz got it right too, Neutral. I remember reading that I grew up in one of the areas where there really isn't any accent.
The quiz says mine is Northeastern but I have to disagree with the map that was displayed as I'm from Boston and we don't have an accent, the rest of the country does . We speak propah english
Northeastern Really? I disagree. I pronounce my words very clearly and without much drawl (living in Indiana for a few years will do that) but I'm definitely Southern
You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for. Considering I am between Chi-town and D-Town, it nailed me. Although with my Invisaligns everything is thrown off!
