Which are the Most Exceptional Hyatt Hotels?

In my stays at different Hyatt hotels I have found some of their hotels extraordinary with classical rooms, and suites with stunning views.

I am extremely interested in what hotels in the Hyatt group other members feel combine extraordinary architecture, history, beauty and/or views well worth the trip?

My experience is there are some hotels that while extremely well appointed with excellent service you could basically be in any warm climate or any city and not know the difference. I really have come to appreciate those hotels where you know you are in Tokyo or Paris from the view from your hotel room.

This is a very subjective matter and I appreciate the perspectives of all milepoint members each from their own unique experience. They can be urban or resort hotels; historic or brand new. I hope we can use this thread to cull out the very most distinctive hotels in their portfolio around the world that are well worth a special personal trip.

To initiate the discussion I have composed a subjective top 15 draft list. I would appreciate friendly commentary on whether the hotels on this list really deserve to be on this list and in what order. I will continue to update this list as additional members provide their input.

    1) Park Hyatt Tokyo

    2) Park Hyatt Paris Vendome

    3) Park Hyatt Hamburg

    4) Park Hyatt Chicago

    5) Park Hyatt Sydney

    6) Park Hyatt Maldives

    7) Park Hyatt Milan

    8) Grand Hyatt Kauai

    9) Park Hyatt Zurich

    10) Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

    11) Park Hyatt Buenos Aires Palacio Duhau

    12) Grand Hyatt Berlin

    13) Park Hyatt Seoul

    14) Park Hyatt Instanbul

    15) Park Hyatt Washington DC

I haven't stayed at nearly as many of these as you have. But I might be tempted to add Hakone to the list, the whole area is quite different from where you would normally expect a Hyatt to turn up.

I'd probably add PH Washington DC to the list - service can be a bit spotty (like the PH Chicago) but the rooms (junior suites for Diamonds is almost guaranteed) are really nice.

The top 2 you mentioned were my first PH experiences and I can't say I disagree.

I too have stayed at the PH Zurich, Istanbul, Paris and DC and think that they all deserve to be on the list. The Grand Hyatt Dubai should be on there too I think.

I would skip Vendome and Zürich for service issues from the list and the GH Seattle as it is not on par with the PHs.

I would add the PH Dubai and the HR Honolulu.

If you're adding the HR Waikiki... then the Hyatt Grand Champions in Indian Wells and the HR in Huntington Beach should be on the list.

But I think maybe all 3 are just a notch below "most exceptional"

Waikiki IMHO has the best RC in NA.

The Regency Club at the Grand Hyatt Kauai is one of the best in the US IMHO. One can sit outside as well.

It actually surprises me that so many think the HR Waikiki is so great. I think it misses on architecture, history and service. The RC is probably the only place that I have received what I would classify as service at this hotel and we have stayed there probably 6 times in the past 2 years.

Would agree if you get an ocean view in the DH Tower the views are fabulous but what % of rooms would qualify for that criteria?

I enjoyed Park Hyatt Zurich and Kauai the most.

Zurich has given me wonderful junior suites on 7 out of 7 stays just for being diamond. I never had to ask.

Kauai for the relaxation. There I find paying for a Cabana is worth the extra dollars.

Park Hyatt Paris and Milan for me and I feel that PH Milan should be ranked higher in the list. Top 5 IMHO.

While I'm still new to Hyatt and haven't been able to venture out to too many properties outside of Northern California, I would definitely say the GH Seattle is the nicest property I've stayed at. I loved everything about that hotel. The only thing that sucked is that I was only there for one night.

I am not really a fan of the PH Vendome.
For me my two favorites Hyatts are the HR Hua Hin and the GH BKK.

Park Hyatt Shanghai is a must visit. Especially what's billed as the tallest pool in the world. Its an infinity pool surrounded by windows so it really is like swimming in the clouds.

I forgot to add that the PH Seoul should be on the list too. It has an amazing breakfast and the location is really convenient for getting around.

I am not a huge fan of the Paris Vendome - it was OK - lovely public spaces, but the service was less than stellar. One of my favorite Hyatts is the Park Hyatt in Chicago. Absolutely wonderful staff.

Only because I haven't stayed at too many Hyatts outside of the US, I'll throw in my vote for PH DC. We had an exceptional suite there, and one of my favorite bathrooms of all time.

I would go in a slightly different direction and would be inclined to nominate as "exceptional" hotels that might not be as obvious as the Parks and the Grands, but that deliver an elevated level of comfort, design and service. I'll name the Hyatt Regency Mainz as one example - I love the cool, modern decor in the rooms, the excellent bathrooms/shower, the perfect location and the fine service. On one trip I stayed at the Park in Hamburg, the Grand in Berlin and the Regency in Mainz,on successive days, and the Mainz did not in any way take a back seat to its more illustrious sister hotels.

I'd also be on board with adding Park Hyatt DC to the list, though I can't really compare it to the others (yet!).
