Not all Cathay Pacific (CX) flights will earn Avios when booked with Qatar Airways Privilege Club, especially if the flight is operated by a partner airline.
Cathay Pacific (CX) Avios Earning Rules
- Economy Class (Y, C, D, etc.): Generally earns Avios when booked through Qatar Airways, but only if the flight is operated by Qatar Airways (QR) or a OneWorld partner with a valid earning agreement.
- Fare Codes Q and N: These are typically economy fare classes. However, Cathay Pacific’s Q and N fare codes do not earn Avios when flown on Cathay Pacific flights, even if the flight is marketed as a QR code-share.
- QR-Operated Flights: If your flight is operated by Qatar Airways (QR), then Avios will be earned based on the QR fare rules, not Cathay Pacific’s.
Key Points
- Only QR-operated flights on your itinerary will earn Avios.
- CX-operated flights (even if code-shared as QR) do not earn Avios for the Q and N fare classes.
- Always check the Qatar Airways Avios earning chart for the specific flight and fare code before booking.
