The Bulkhead Seat ITA Airways Will Launch First-Ever Flights Between Rome and Houston This Summer
ITA Airways is expanding its North American footprint with the introduction of a new long-haul route connecting Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). This marks the first time the two cities will be linked by nonstop service and the new route will debut on May 1st. ITA Airways, the national airline of Italy, has just unveiled its newest transatlantic route, launching in the spring of 2026. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, given bigger developments at the airline. In this post: As of May 1, 2026, ITA Airways will launch flights between Rome (FCO) and Houston (IAH). The service will initially operate 3x weekly, before operating 5x weekly as of June 1, 2026. ITA Airways, the national airline of Italy, has just put its newest transatlantic route on sale, which will represent the carrier’s first route to Canada. In this post: As of May 10, 2024, ITA Airways will launch flights between Rome (FCO) and Toronto (YYZ). The service will initially operate 6x weekly, before operating daily as of June 1, 2024. The flight will have the following schedule: AZ650 Rome to Toronto departing 10:15AM arriving 2:05PM AZ651 Toronto to Rome departing 5:15PM arriving 7:50AM (+1 day) The 4,415-mile flight is blocked at 9hr50min westbound and 8hr35min eastbound.

As ITA Airways, the Italian flag carrier formerly known as Alitalia, integrates into the Lufthansa Group and prepares to join Star Alliance, United Airlines MileagePlus members can soon earn and redeem points when flying on ITA. MileagePlus Premier members can also enjoy perks when flying ITA, including lounge access. An announcement on United’s MileagePlus partners page states that members can begin to earn and burn miles on ITA flights beginning on September 8, 2025: MileagePlus members can start earning and redeeming miles on ITA Airways flights on September 8, 2025.
