Los Angeles is served by several commercial airports that provide a range of options for travelers.

Los Angeles Area Commercial Airports

  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the primary and largest airport in the region and sits less than four miles from SoFi Stadium, making it the most convenient choice for events at the venue.
  • Hollywood‑Burbank Airport (BUR) offers easy access to downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, Burbank, and nearby attractions such as Dodger Stadium and Universal Studios, and is frequently recommended for travelers heading to those areas.
  • Long Beach Airport (LGB) is presented as a decent alternative to the larger hubs and serves airlines including Alaska, Delta, and Southwest.
  • John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County is the closest airport to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, and other Southern California attractions, and is often suggested for visitors to the Orange County region.
  • Ontario International Airport (ONT) serves the Inland Empire and is listed among the Los Angeles metro area’s co‑terminals, providing another option for travelers heading east of the city.
  • Van Nuys Airport (VNY) and Santa Monica Airport (SMO) are private airports that can be used as alternatives for those who can afford private‑flight options.

LAX, LGB, BUR Travelers: Curfew In Effect NOW
Heads-up for travelers arriving to or departing from Long Beach (LGB), Los Angeles International (LAX), and Hollywood Burbank (BUR) airports tonight and early tomorrow morning: Los Angeles County announced a 6:00 PM PDT curfew because of safety concerns throughout the area. The curfew is in effect through 6:00 AM Monday morning. The curfew doesn’t explicitly mention people in transit to or from airports. I assume you’d be okay going to or from an airport. That being said, tonight is not the night to see the sights. If you’re able to afford flying into private airports Van Nuys (VNY) or Santa Monica (SMO), please get in touch. Take me with you. John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Santa Ana is located in Orange County. That county’s curfew currently starts at 10:00 PM and ends at 5:30 AM Monday. I haven’t seen anything for San Bernardino County, which is home to Ontario airport (ONT). Stay safe out there, everyone. — Chris Featured image: ©iStock.comBoarding1Now

Don’t Wait: Here’s Why You Should Book Flights NOW for the Big Championship Game in Los Angeles
If your football team is one of the four that might go to the world championship game in Los Angeles next month — and you want to be part of the weekend’s festivities — book your flights now. Yes, even before the conference championship games start Sunday afternoon. Why? I wouldn’t be at all surprised if airfares from winning teams’ cities skyrocket after their respective games are played. (The only exception would be if the Los Angeles Rams win the NFC Championship. I doubt many Rams fans remain in St. Louis.) So we’re essentially talking about:

LAX Staff Prevent Some Delta Passengers from Entering T3. How to Get Around This Insanity!
The insufferable misery called “LAX Terminal 3” has gotten worse. Inept security guards and poor signage prevent some passengers from even entering the terminal. This past Friday, I posted the new Terminal 2 location for the Delta inter-terminal shuttle bus — which could be your best friend after reading this. Delta’s Sky Way at LAX project is in full swing. A new Sky Club with Sky Deck is on the way. There will be more room, more gates, and more flights. Things will be nice. Hopefully. But all that’s at least a couple of years away.

Full List: TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID is Now Open in 58 US Airports
I have TSA PreCheck® and CLEAR+ and use both services depending on which line is shorter. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently introduced another option for speeding through security called TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID. It’s been rolling out across the country with more airports being rapidly added. Where available, it has quickly become one of the fastest ways for TSA PreCheck® travelers to clear airport security. The service rivals CLEAR+ in that you don’t have to take out an ID, but it takes it a step further and you don’t even need to show a boarding pass. A major expansion

Flying Delta Through LAX? Read This First
Delta Air Lines is making several impressive improvements to LAX. Like, rebuilding an entire terminal and constructing a massive Sky Club. But here’s the rub: all of this takes place at an airport that’s generally passenger un-friendly and outdated. (LAX is finally getting a people mover and less-complicated access to public rail transportation.) And some temporary fixes are causing headaches for some Delta passengers. So if you plan to visit LAX and fly Delta, here are a few things you should know. Delta currently uses Terminal 2 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT). Terminal 3
