American Airlines 787 LAX-Tokyo Business Class Review (2018)
My American Airlines 787 LAX-Tokyo business class review was part of my work trip to Japan. Traveling with coworkers is always interesting, especially if they are not frequent travelers. Since we needed to get right to client meetings and presentations when we landed, we had been allowed to book business class flights for the trip. We all flew in to LAX and from there we’d take American to Tokyo. I landed from Philadelphia, while my other coworkers landed from New York and Atlanta. We decided to meet up at the Oneworld business class lounge at TBIT. We spent some

American Airlines Reveals First A321XLR International Route
Earlier this month American Airlines took delivery of its first Airbus A321XLR. The long range narrowbody jet is expected to unlock new transatlantic markets for the carrier and now we have information on what the first route will be. While we have know that the first Airbus A321XLR flights will operate between New York and Los Angeles beginning in December, we now know that the carrier will fly the aircraft to Edinburg, Scotland as its first international destination. American has added a daily, seasonal, route between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Edinburgh Airport (EDI)

American Airlines Eyes Premium Push, Plans 30% Increase in Premium Seating
American Airlines Chief Operating Officer David Seymour and Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden spoke at the Skift Aviation Forum on Wednesday morning in Fort Worth, Texas. Garboden discussed the airline’s plan for a premium push. While still largely in the works, the carrier is eyeing expanded premium capacity along with more premium amenities both onboard and at the airport, given the strength that premium demand has shown over the past several years. “Premium demand has really pulled up through these uncertain economic times,” acknowledging that the high-yield customers are key to resilient financials and operations in today’s market.

Review: Thai Airways 787-9 Business Class
My short journey from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur on Thai Airways onboard a 787-9 in “Royal Silk” business class exceeded (almost) all expectations, with gracious service and a delicious multi-course meal. After a pleasant stay at the St. Regis Bangkok, I avoided heavy traffic by taking the Bangkok BTS Skytrain to the Airport Rail Link (ARL), arriving within plenty of time to visit several Star Alliance Lounges in BKK. The check-in desks were not crowded and I used the Star Alliance Gold line because it was empty (I could have also used the “Royal Silk” business class line).

New: American Airlines Will Bring Flagship Suites To Boeing 787-8s, Overhauling Tiny 20-Seat Business Class Cabin
American Airlines is planning to retrofit existing Boeing 787-8 aircraft with new Flagship Suites. Right now, they have fantastic business class seats, but they have too much variability in their widebody premium product. The 787-8s don’t have enough premium seats, and they have an older business class product, but the airline had been silent about plans for the aircraft until now. Family Upgrades To American Airlines Business Class, Then Loud Flight Attendants Keep Them Awake All Night
A passenger who paid to upgrade his family to American Airlines Flagship Business Class for an overnight flight says the lie-flat seats proved nearly useless because the flight attendants talked loudly throughout the night. When Flight Attendants Are Too Loud To Let Passengers Sleep A passenger recently took to reddit after an overnight American Airlines flight from Chicago to London aboard a Boeing 787-9. He had upgraded his family of four to Flagship Business Class (I reviewed that plane on that route here), largely so they could sleep on the overnight journey. Instead, he
