How do elite status matches or challenges work?

Elite status matches and challenges are ways airlines and hotel chains let you jump to a higher tier without starting from scratch, but they work in slightly different ways.
Status matches
- You contact the new carrier and ask for a match; they verify your current elite level and grant you the equivalent tier, usually for the remainder of the current calendar year and sometimes into the next year FrequentMiler Live and Let’s Fly .
