Lufthansa’s legacy 2‑2‑2 business‑class cabin is a uniform, traditional layout, while the new Allegris cabin on the A350‑900 uses a staggered 1‑2‑1 concept with several distinct seat types that aim to give passengers more privacy, space and direct‑aisle access  One Mile at a Time Points Miles and Bling .

Layout and seat configuration

  • Legacy 2‑2‑2 – All seats are arranged in three columns of two seats each, offering a single, identical product throughout the cabin  One Mile at a Time .
  • Allegris – The cabin blends 1‑2‑1 configurations and provides seven different seat types, including front‑row Business Suites, window “single suites”, central “double suites”, Extra‑Space seats, Privacy seats and Extra‑Long Bed seats  Points Miles and Bling .

Privacy and aisle access

  • 2‑2‑2 – Middle‑column seats have no direct aisle access and are separated only by a thin armrest, giving limited visual privacy.
  • Allegris – Every seat has direct aisle access; the Business Suites and single/double suites feature sliding doors or adjustable partitions that create a semi‑enclosed or fully enclosed space  Points Miles and Bling One Mile at a Time .

Seat size and comfort features

  • 2‑2‑2 – Seats are of a single size with standard pitch and width; the product lacks the newer entertainment screens and extensive storage found in modern cabins.
  • Allegris – Seat dimensions vary: some options offer extra shoulder room, larger work surfaces, and beds up to 2.20 m long. High‑resolution screens, Bluetooth connectivity, minibars and wardrobe storage are standard on the premium seat types  Points Miles and Bling One Mile at a Time .

Technology and amenities

  • 2‑2‑2 – Older cabin technology, limited personal entertainment options, and fewer power or connectivity features.
  • Allegris – “Phenomenal tech” is highlighted across the cabin, with advanced IFE systems, USB‑C power, and integrated lighting that enhance the passenger experience  One Mile at a Time .

Overall passenger experience

  • Legacy cabin – Provides a consistent but relatively basic business‑class product with no special privacy zones or varied comfort levels.
  • Allegris cabin – Delivers a tiered experience where passengers can choose between highly private suites, extra‑space seats, or more standard options, resulting in a more personalized and upscale journey  Points Miles and Bling PYOK .

In short, the older 2‑2‑2 layout offers a single, uniform seat with limited privacy and aisle access, whereas the new Allegris layout introduces a diversified, staggered configuration that emphasizes privacy, direct aisle access, larger beds and upgraded technology.

Review: Lufthansa Allegris Business Class Airbus A350 (YVR-MUC)
For the most anticipated segment of my Allegris round the world journey, I flew Lufthansa’s Airbus A350-900 Allegris business class on the 9hr20min flight from Vancouver (YVR) to Munich (MUC). To say that I was anticipating this flight would be the understatement of the year. Actually, it would be the understatement of the past seven years, since that’s how long it was from when Lufthansa announced its Allegris business class, until it was actually in service. Experiencing Lufthansa Allegris was my main motivation for taking this trip, as I managed to find award availability on the second-ever passenger flight

New Allegris long-haul destinations from Frankfurt are served by brand-new Boeing 787-9 aircraft. With both Munich and Frankfurt now operating the Allegris

Discover Airlines Acquiring Airbus A350s In 2027 (Lufthansa Hand-Me-Downs)
Discover Airlines is Lufthansa Group’s long haul leisure carrier based in Germany. The airline has been growing in recent years, as Lufthansa Group (unsurprisingly) sees a lot of potential with its low cost operations. Last year, we learned how the Discover Airlines fleet will grow in the coming years, and that we’ll eventually see the introduction of a new business class product. There’s now an even more interesting announcement, as the airline is getting a new “flagship” aircraft. In this post: Discover Airlines has announced plans to grow its fleet to 40 aircraft by the middle of

The First Lufthansa Airbus A350 to Feature The New Allegris Business Class Cabin Will Debut On Munich to Vancouver Route On May 1
The first Airbus A350-900 to feature Lufthansa’s long-delayed ‘Allegris’ Business Class seat will go into service between Munich and Vancouver beginning May 1, with Toronto to follow shortly thereafter, along with Chicago and Montreal in the summer. Considering that Lufthansa first announced the Allegris project back in 2017, this moment has been a long time coming, and while the new Business Class seats will be a big improvement on the German flag carrier’s current generation of long-haul premium seats, you’ve got to wonder whether Allegris will survive the test of time. To make matters even more confusing, Lufthansa
