The 2-4-2 layout on Delta’s A350-900 Premium Select seats enhances comfort by offering wider seats, increased recline, and better privacy compared to standard premium economy configurations.2PAXfly

Seat Configuration and Comfort

  • The 2-4-2 layout provides more personal space and better seat positioning, especially for window and aisle seats, reducing the likelihood of being disturbed by passengers in the middle.
  • Premium Select seats feature 38 inches of seat pitch, 19 inches of width, and 8 inches of recline, which is more generous than most premium economy offerings.
  • The seats include a footrest, universal A/C and USB-A charging ports, and a 13.3-inch HD touch screen, contributing to overall comfort and convenience.

Cabin and Service Features

  • The A350-900’s quieter cabin and modern lighting system further reduce fatigue on long-haul flights, enhancing the comfort of the 2-4-2 layout.

Comparison to Other Premium Economy Offerings

  • Compared to British Airways’ 2-4-2 Recaro PL3530 seats, Delta’s Premium Select offers more legroom and better seat design, though British Airways’ seats have a stiffer recline and better storage nook design.
  • Emirates’ 2-4-2 Premium Economy seats on the A380 offer 40 inches of legroom and 19.5-inch width, which is slightly better than Delta’s, but Delta’s layout still provides a strong balance of space and comfort.

Does Japan Airlines Have The World’s Best Premium Economy Class?
In September last year, I discussed some of the premium economy products I’ve flown longhaul so far. In doing so, I crowned Qantas’ premium economy product my favourite of them all, due to the excellent catering, good ground experience, and very comfortable seat. However, I didn’t consider their win to be slam-dunk – they have no WiFi (which is a big deal for me, especially if I’m flying them on a daytime flight), and power ports were shared between seats, which meant that you and your seatmate couldn’t charge a laptop at the same time. British Airways’ A350 Premium Economy: Exceptionally Well-Intentioned, Passably Executed
Today I flew British Airways’ A350 premium economy from London to Hong Kong. While I’ve flown British Airways’ 777 premium economy and their A350 Club Suite (and Jason has flown their 787 premium economy), neither of us have flown British Airways’ A350 premium economy before. In fact, British Airways introduced a new premium economy seat on their A350 that you’ll also find on some of their 777s and 787s, and today was my first time trying this seat. I remember being very pleasantly surprised by British Airways’ premium economy product a few years back, so was looking forward to

NEW ROUTES 2026 #4: Delta Airlines East Coast to Los Angeles on A350 with Delta One Business Class
Delta began operating its new A350 aircraft to Melbourne late last year, giving travellers a third option, alongside Qantas and United, for direct flights to Los Angeles. The airline now flies from Melbourne and Brisbane three times a week, and daily from Sydney. Its Delta One Business Class seat has the edge on other US airlines, featuring full-height sliding doors, Missoni bedding and amenity kits, lumbar pillows for extra support, chef supervised menus and sommelier-selected wine pairings. I’m doing a series of posts on new routes in and out of Australia. Some are actually new routes, and some are

Review: SAS A350-900 Premium Economy Class
My 11-hour journey from Copenhagen to Los Angeles on the Airbus A350-900 was quite pleasant and productive for a daytime flight, though I’d love to see SAS put a bit more effort into its food and beverages in premium economy. I’m sitting on quite a few SAS EuroBonus miles and SAS offers excellent redemption pricing on its own metal (30K one-way in economy, 40K in premium economy, or 50K in business class between Europe and North America). While business class is always the goal and well worth the extra 10-20K miles each way, I’ll take what I can get

Emirates brings its A350 to Kuala Lumpur and adds Premium Economy to Mauritius
Emirates has confirmed that as of tomorrow, it's adding its Airbus A350 to the Kuala Lumpur route and that on the same day, it will be introducing its Premium Economy cabin on the Mauritius route. As usual, there's both good and bad news here (but it's mostly good). Review: British Airways A350 Premium Economy (LHR-HKG)
| THE ALVIATOR'S VERDICT British Airways is so close to having a really good premium economy product, with the seat, catering, amenities and entertainment/WiFi all being great; however, it seems to just fumble on some of the basics, including an inefficient boarding process, extortionate seat selection fees, and weak service flow | 4.0 | In my quest to find the world’s best premium economy product, I’ve always found myself bereft in my duty, as I’ve never tried British Airways’ new premium economy (rolled out on their A350s in 2019, and extended to their 777 aircraft) based at my current

Review: Finnair A350 Premium Economy (PVG-HEL)
| THE ALVIATOR'S VERDICT There's a little cost-cutting going on in Finnair premium economy, and this isn't one of the world's best premium economy products. However, I found it to be much less "low-cost" than I was expecting, given the airline's recent challenges | 4.0 | I’m trying to find the world’s best premium economy product, especially between Europe and Asia, a route I fly very often. In November 2025, the opportunity arose to try Finnair’s A350 premium economy class quite cheaply. I took up this opportunity, and booked a flight from Shanghai to London via Helsinki (both in
