Here’s a quick look at recent seat‑availability updates from several airlines and a few tips for snagging open seats.
Frontier GoWild! Pass Tips
- Check flight availability daily, especially a few weeks before a potential trip, because new seats can appear when Frontier adjusts capacity.
- Travel light and use a personal item that fits under the seat to keep bag fees low and make it easier to secure a penny‑fare seat. 🔗
- Book as soon as you see an open seat, since routes can fill within hours once pass holders notice availability. 🔗
- Be open to off‑peak travel such as shoulder seasons, mid‑week flights, and less traditional vacation months, which often have more seats available. 🔗
- Keep an eye on new promotions, as Frontier frequently rolls out fresh deals and pass variations that can boost your savings.🔗
British Airways Avios Seat Increase
- British Airways announced a commitment to double the minimum guaranteed reward seat availability for Euro Traveller, Club Europe, World Traveller, and Club World cabins, effective for travel from July 28 2021 onward.
- The airline is releasing over 250,000 additional reward seats, with the new guaranteed numbers per flight rising from 4 to 8 in Euro Traveller, 2 to 4 in Club Europe, 4 to 8 in World Traveller, and adding 2 seats in World Traveller Plus (premium economy). 🔗
- These extra seats can be booked through the British Airways Executive Club area and are intended to make it easier for families and groups to travel using Avios.
Royal Air Maroc Partner Seat Visibility
- Seat availability for Royal Air Maroc flights is now visible through the Expert Flyer platform, allowing travelers to see specific flights and confirm open seats before calling a phone agent.
Delta Seat Blocking Issue
- Delta’s internal system now blocks both customers and phone representatives from seeing the true number of open seats, meaning the information provided by reps may not reflect actual availability.
- The airline acknowledges that applications for consumers and agents show the same limited seat count, and it monitors the tool’s functionality to ensure it works as intended.🔗

British Airways Doubles Its Commitment For Available Award Seats
Along with one of the devaluations of British Airways Executive Club in the last decade, BA made a commitment to award seat availability on every flight. In practice that meant they’d load award space when flights first become bookable. Many flights offer more than the minimum promised award space, but this was a way of knowing that with enough planning it would be possible to use British Airways Avios – and since these are saver award seats, it’s equally possible to use miles on partner airline currencies like American AAdvantage, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, etc.

WARNING: Delta phone reps now impacted by Delta seat blocking “bug”. You can NOT trust the info they provide you!
This. Is. Maddening! If you are not aware of this issue let me bring you up to speed. Delta has had a number of issues with seat maps for a while now going all the way to the introduction of C+, on the Fly Delta App and Delta.com, not showing the correct number of open seats. They have fixed some issues only to this year end up with an even worse problem that many times all but the cabin (or class of service) you paid for are blocked. For example, when in “Comfort Plus” on a Delta CJR200 the rest
